This picture is from their concert in Rome Teatro Adriano 1965...
Looks to be done by Beatles road manager,Neil Aspinall....he signed thousands of "autographs"
on behalf of The Beatles during their touring years from late 1963 to 1966...
I agree with Jim these look like the work of Neil Aspinall especially the John and George.
They look like Aspinalls to me too.
Please forgive me if this question has come up before. I can't find it previously answered, so I'll give it a try. I'm just curious if there is a market for Beatles autographs that are, in reality, Aspinall, Mal Evans, George's mum, etc.. I recall that there was some value to Joe DiMaggio balls that were actually signed by his sister, so it would seem that there would be interest, even if only for the novelty of it. After all, those people weren't your everyday forgers trying to steal your money. Anyway, just wondering...
I have a small collection of Neil Aspinall signed Lp covers. I generally pay around $150 for them. Same thing for signed photos if the picture is a good one. I’ve also paid $50 for a nice Beatles promo card with George’s Mom’s signature.
Hey Fabrizio.....A BIG mistake!! I have lots of auction catalogs going back to the late 1980's and early 1990's .....and lots of the catalogs have Neil Aspinall signatures in them being sold as authentic. When you do a bit of study....his are easy to spot.
what rock catalogues do you have from 80s? There were few then and may be quite rare
I have a copy of the December 1981 catalog from Sotheby's...the first real rock'n" roll auction....all kinds...
Yeah, I have heard of that catalogue although I do have a flyers for a 70's auction although may be radio station-will have to check
A lot of those older catalogs (prior to www) have not been digitized and have items that are not know today-or not well known. And interesting provinance info can be added to maNY ITMES. Beatles of course pop to mind.
I have alot of catalogs too, many multiples so if you would like to swap catalogs to fill gaps in your collection let me know as i have gaps too
I was just reading a book about Jimmie Nicol. It was mentioned that besides Neil and Mal, Derek Taylor also signed Beatles autographs. Loads of them! Has anyone here been able to recognize any of those? Do they turn up for sale often? Either as authentic Beatles or as what they really are? I've found this topic very interesting. I don't think you could call those guys forgers. Seems like there would be an interest in them as Beatles curiosities at the very least. Cheers!
