Babe Ruth Autographed Baseball Scam?
Purchased this ball from auction for a few hundred dollars (not much). After a few days, they call me and issue me a a refund (out of good deed and concern that I paid too much). They indicated they are reaching out to the consignor for authenticity. Sounds fishy and I'd like to get a second opinion. The baseball was listed as unauthenticated.
I'd like to get the teams thoughts on the authenticity of the baseball. Thank you so very much!

Fake. They are worried you overpaid when it cost a few hundred? Thats funny. You thought you'd get something other than a forgery at that price? What kind of ink is that? Ruth died in 1948 so no felt tip possible and that does not look like fountain. Ballpoint was just coming on the scene. Also, the wear on the ball is inconsistent with the condition of the signature. Looks overcooked.

I was fully expecting to be fake. I only bid up to what I was expecting to loose. I've never had an auction house call out of 'concern'. That was the fishy part.

The fishy part was the opening/closing bid! Why did you do it if you knew it would end this way or something like it?

The last ball at RR was $13,000. Just a signed photo is several thousand. Research and knowledge are key.
