I don't like it. looks too neat and slow, ink is pretty dark in the wrong areas of attempted signature.

I think that the autograph is real, a typical Babe Ruth. If you’re considering buying it I recommend having it looked at in person by an expert who knows Ruth well.

What about the photo stock. Printed possibly?

it’s unauthenticated and the seller is asking $1100. So price is concerning, but everything looks right

I agree with your concerns, ITguy. The signature looks like Ruth signed it but it may be printed. I can’t tell from the image size and quality.

If it’s a known preprint a Ruth expert will know it right away. Steve Grad at BAS is my goto on vintage baseball. You can get an online opinion from BAS and he’ll see it. If he thinks it’s real, you’ll still want it seen in person.

Here is a close up image of the signature

looks like live ink, and I see some fading. I think this would be hard to pull off with a printer. Guy said he bought it 40 years ago at a card show and wants to offload it

Went to great lengths to make the paper look old

My concern is if it’s a vintage preprint. I’m not aware of any that look realistic but others may know.

I saw this last night and thought the same but could not find any correlative - but with that degree of hairline scratches and water damage/spotting to the print it seems odd the signature is not affected as one would expect.

Here is the reverse side illuminated with a light source, thoughts

Steve ,Do you know an expert that would be best for Babe Ruth authentication? I'm also in the market for a Ruth signature and I want to be certain considering the amount of cash involved. I did find a slabbed example that is in comparison to the OP. His signature doesn't look to be very consistent when it comes to a base line. the A some times lower than and other times above. The E some times way above and other times close to the base. Though the slight forward slant is consistent.

R.Tanner, definitely Grad on Ruth.
