Since I started this thread, and am relatively new, Steve can you please advise us on what we should disclose and not disclose? If I provided all of the information, and our discussion got back to the store, don't you think they would think twice about sending high res pictures of expensive items to interested parties? While I was expected to do some checking, I am sure the store does not appreciate my sharing this with a very large forum. Remember, whatever we enter shows up in search engines! I was trying to be diplomatic, professional and fair to the store too. It has nothing to do with making people guess or beating around the bush. Is some discretion not called for?  If anyone thought I should have provided more information, I think there is a way to have told me that or asked for a little more. We can have a civil discussion and learn from each other. No one here is an expert - we can all learn! 

I now realize I did not say anything about the memorabilia store. I intended to and left that out. It is a well known store that operates out of some major hotels. I am sorry if I mislead anyone into thinking this was a no-name, unheard of business. This is another reason the item should be of interest to us.

RANJAN -  There is no such thing as "discretion" on high level items.  In fact, discretions have often led to buyers spendings hundreds of thousands of dollars on forgeries.  Those stories unfortunately cascade through-out aml.

Diplomacy is fleeting when it comes to memoribillia.  If anyone thought I should have provided moe information, I think there is a way to have told me that or asked for a little more. - I believe i just did in a straight forward "civil" manner.

Boy, have I learned a great deal about comunication in 48 hours! DB, you have not responded to my concerns about making the store's name public. Maybe I am different, DB, but a simple "Ranjan, providing more information about the store is necessary for us to help" would have been "civil". But "Don't make it some sort of Stephen King novel or the need to enlist charlie chan and #1 son.  This beating round the bush is nonsense. The best approach is as Sgt. Joe Friday would say, "just the facts" as we know them.  It really is simple and we don't need to engage in a game of Clue." 

And you think that is civil, considering we have never even met? I am sorry, but that sounds like you thought I was 5 or did not understand English! It's more like you were giving me a lecture, and I was really not looking for that.

This has been somewhat of a disappointment, but I also think there are a lot of caring, knowledgable and understanding people on this site!

Forget about the store reputation (unless you own it)-your considering spending $9000 of your hard earned money with them. Further, as a retailer they throw themselves into the public limelite like all other retailers.  Ever heard of yelp?

I'm confused. Why does the store name or authenticator matter. Shouldn't decisions be made just by looking at the autographs? I like to observe and don't post much but feel the need to from time to time... Mike Aring has to be the most arrogant and rude as they come in every thread that I read on here (including this one). Why?!

Jason, IMO - that is correct, however go back and read my full post if that is what you are replying to as there are a few more ingredients.  Knowing as many of them as possible provides more information from which one can derive an informed opinion.  e.g. if it had a Nicolas Burczyk COA - might you think it even deserves consideration?   If it came from ARA or perhaps a Vegas Store known all too well and posted here all too often - would that mean to reject it out of hand?  perhaps, but....   and it is a big but.

Jason, 

The store will usually provide the guarantee. The more reputable they are the better your chances of getting your money back, if there is a problem. With regard to authenticator - The SAME item with a COA from TRACKS or Frank C. will be worth more than say one from Chris Morales. And some authenticators will not authenticate an item if they know it was previously authenticated by a specific person. It's complicated. I am no expert, but my simple thoughts.

IMO if the glove is being sold at a well known store in a hotel with only a CM COA I wouldn't think twice we hear nothing but horror stories on here about the hotel autograph sellers. Someone that sells autographs would know this needs to be taken to Frank, Tracks ect and the fact that they have no proof just a morales COA scares me

Agreed Steve. If Ranjan would have posted who the COA was issued by in the first place we would not have this whole discussion on whether the item is real of fake. "Sold at a well known store in a hotel with only a CM COA". That is a dead giveaway!!!

I am learning. Don't forget.. I did my homework before I started writing anything. The historic meeting happened! The reason Clay's camp forced the Beatles to stay when Clay was "late".... was to get pictures and use it for publicity. Being a gym with boxing ring(s) there were plenty of boxing gloves around. Is it unthinkable for someone to have asked for and got two sets of autographs? Based on the short time spent, someone would have seen this happen, which is why the lack of any provenance is odd. You folks have been a great help - Thank you! If this is not genuine, it's certainly unusual. There are many forgeries around. But this is taking it to a new level! You start with the Beatles and throw in one of the most desired autographs in the world? One where the obtaining of the signatures can be almost nailed down to an exact date and time! Who could get away with this? And it is not on paper or an album! You can't blame me for being curious, can you?

I think several members here are missing the point. From what Ranjan said in his post, he doesnt know where the coa came from, nor has a picture of it. Is that his fault? no not at all. Im sure after the first few people asked, if he would have had one, he would have posted it. So by saying that Ranjan should have just posted it from the beginning is being very unfair. To my knowledge no where in this thread did Ranjan claim to have a photo of the COA. Instead what it seems like, is exactly what he said. That he saw the item, was able to grab a photo or have one sent to him by the seller, and thats that. So how can he be blamed at all for this?

And again, DB, i like your posts and you know your stuff just like Mike, but i dont think your response was called for at all either. Maybe some people know something i dont and this guy is on here to scam people, but i didnt pick up on anything like that, and his responses dont read that way. They read like someone who is new here and is asking for opinions. So is their a need to "lecture" him on anything. Well flip the situation and see what you would think if you were in his shoes, had just come here and asked for some info and you got lectured. Definetly a crappy feeling and makes you want to go somewhere else. I know because ive been through that crap over at startiger when i first joined. Their were several members who thought it was their job to be smart A;s , and pick apart my questions, when all i asked for was a little information. 

So Again, unless im missing something, or this is Grant coming back, then i dont see why their was any hint of a harsh response to this question. To me and it seems pretty obvious, the guy was getting the run around from a suspicious seller, and wanted to come here to ask about it before a possible purchase. And the seller just didnt give him crap to go on. Plus if this guy would have been someone out to get something im pretty sure his last few replies would have been the like of f'''k you all, etc. I just dont understand why this post and this guy was attacked? Am i missing something here?
