Excellent, thank you.  If I recall correctly, the book The Great Escape by Paul Brickhill goes into some detail, with entire documents being created from scratch, bearing important rubber stamps made from hand carved boot heels and photographs being developed and embossed to "prove" I identity - an incredible amount of ingenuity. The master forger was Donald Pleasance. James Garner had a lot of fun with the Guard Werner - tricking him/blackmailing him into bringing the camera and photographic papers and more. I think this all started with a bit of chocolate...
