Hey Guys,

I think that these are ok but I have learned not to trust my instincts but to defer to those of superior knowledge.  Thoughts?

Last chance to save me from the tpa's

I have never seen a Betty Grable like this one, I 'PERSONALLY' don't like it.  Look at the 'G' in both, Grable & Gaynor - is there any difference?

PERSONALLY I would not be happy with any of them.

I don't know if this would help.

That looks better, to clarify my main concern was that both looked to be signed by the same hand.  Both have a similar G formatting on there original autographs but both of these first pics posted for Grable and Gaynor look too exact.

They may well both be ok but I would be sceptical.

Thanks pjc. I appreciate the additional reference. I understand the concern here but I am struggling to dismiss the entire group.

Sorry for bumping this, but I’m also looking to purchase a Betty Grable piece.

Can someone correct me if I’m wrong (and I would love to be wrong as it would make me more comfortable buying a cheaper piece), I had this discussion with a dealer I met at The Hollywood Show in Los Angeles, and these were some of the pointers he gave me on Betty Grable signatures:

-In authentic Betty Grable signatures, she almost always connects the “B” and “e” in Betty. Secretarial photos that were mailed out to fans almost always had a disconnected “B” and “e.”

-In authentic Grable signatures, the “e” at the end of Grable looks more like the number 3 with an obvious flourish, in secretarial signatures the “e” in Grable will be similar but have much less of a flourish (and sometimes look like a lowercase y).

-Also, the “b” in Grable is usually much more obviously a lowercase b in secretarial signatures, while in authentic signatures it looks more like a lowercase d.

Example of an authentic signature:

Possibly secretarial:

I would love a second opinion, as I am also looking to purchase a Grable piece.
