Appreciate any thoughts on the possible authenticity of this Bowie signature. I was looking at another one previously which came back as authentic, but someone scooped it up before I could make the purchase. Looking for 1980 or earlier so this one caught my attention. Thanks.

The Thanks looks a bit to clean for me but wait what Eric says

The B looks way off. That triangular part at the start is most peculiar. I agree with THETHINWHITE DUKE; the "thanks" is too neat and doesnt even look like Bowie's writing. It's all very clean and there's no typical slant. The way the line comes off the "O" is just wrong. I'd avoid this one if i were you. Here's a "with thanks" from 1980 to compare it with..

Thank you very much, Gents. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Will steer clear of this one.

In my eyes this is not genuine. Dedication looks off. Bo is pretty different from his style and number 8 looks like is signed by right handed but wait for Eric and Mark.

I knew what this would be before I opened it. I saw it at $175, $150 and now $125. That signature, handwriting and date is very interesting. The above shown in red was from RR and is owned by someone in here - unusual for its placement and size only. in 1979 he was still solidifying his signature - 1980 produces some oddities. The handwriting also needs looking at - it is not that unusual in form for the time. I think the red Scary Monsters above is at Andy's site as genuine. The following 1980's are also at Andy's site as genuine - have a look at the sigs and numerals:

And the OP:

On all samples I saw on Andy's page I see some rules about size of individual letters. "W" in with is always smaller than rest of word. The biggest problem i have with dedication. And I still do not like "B" :-) It is interesting, hope we will find out more.

I can be very wrong.

It is interesting. There is a lot of variation at this time - Elephant Man and Scary Monsters out at the same time and him singing a lot.

Hmmm, I can admit date looks "good".

- "w" is highter that rest of letter

- "thanks" in this form of handwriting I never saw before. "a" looks like wrote by woman. I have big problem with this word...

- the back of the B is more sharpy than on samples. I do not know if I see some hesitations in the lower part of B or it is just bad photo.

It reminds me this one about what I think it is fake and I guess it someone said here too.

PS - Good general observation. It is usually the first stroke of the "w" that is smaller - the second vertical can actually go quite high. Obviously, I passed on this one.

Thanks for providing those examples Eric. It makes sense that he was experimenting with his signature at this time as there is SO much variation. The "8" and the "0" are spot on and the "I" dot is consistent too. The "with" could pass but it's still the "thanks" that lends doubt to me. In all the other "thanks" i've seen, and indeed with DBs handwriting in general, all the letters are linked, as in the pen doesnt leave the page (as seen in the "with"). The letters are mostly separated in the "thanks". Here are all the "thanks" examples from 1980 on Andy's site..

This is mine from tracks just placed a different photo on top of the original  and added a bit on
