That is a later very degraded b/w dot matrix photo - not a fan in terms of quality. Others can speak to the signature. It may be authentic, but is it of qualty? Contrast is fine but the photo...If it was him as The Tramp that would be a bit different.

Thanks for your opinion Eric.

The image quality looks to be very poor.  It's a good character to capture him as though....not the The Tramp but rather Monsieur Verdoux (another iconic role of his).

Is this a photo with a large border?  Does it look to be at least 50 years old in person?

It may indeed be authentic.  It's a later in life signature if so.  What I don't care for is the rigid straight baseline of his signature in your example.  Here's a calling card signed by him in later years (early 1970's) for comparison.

...and here's another....

Here's the Chaplin I have (from 1966):

Thanks Etienne. Here the backside from the photo. if you look closely, I read 'copyright 2005' ?

Modern garbage forged signature. I always spend as much time on the back as the front. Often the Reverse is more helpful than one might think. In this case it is instant death.

The forger did a somewhat close job at copying Chaplin's signature... I have to say. They got his "p" right.

It's certainly not in the "at least 50-year-old" category that I mentioned!

Yes, closer to 200 months!

I THANK BOTH OF YOU

Most welcome. :-)

My pleasure, Susanne.   Charlie is out there...but he usually comes at somewhat of a premium in authentic form.
