Is this the real deal? Signed early 1980s.
Would appreciate any comments or feedback.

Many thanks.

Every Reeve I've seen that I know were obtained in person were signed "up-angle/slant" left to right. This is slanted the opposite way, down-angle left to right. Some of the elements look OK, but there's enough here that look unrecognizable as Reeve that I wouldn't be comfortable with it.

Really?! That's a shame. I bought it with an unpublished photo which was apparently taken at the time of the signing. Nevermind. Yer win some, yer lose some.
Cheers for taking the time to take a peep at it Woody.

Judge, I've seen autographs from all types of stars that were authenticated that looked even odder than this does for Reeve. Most of the Ruths I see with authentication paper, some from major companies leave me astonished. If they authenticate it, it's like Lourdes, it washes away its sin. PSA/DNA quick opinion for $10 might be worth a go. If they give it a "likely Reeve", it may pay to submit it.

In all honesty, Woody, i thought that this was an authentic Reeve. Only because of comparing through other examples i've seen online. It just goes to show how untrained my eye is and that i've got much to learn.

I only paid about 40 queen's heads for the Reeve signature, so for the sake of another 10, i may just try out your PSA recommendation.

Thanks again, Woody.

Please let us know the outcome. Very curious. Hope this pans out for you.

I certainly will, Woody. Cheers!
I've just looked into the PSA/DNA quick opinion service, and unfortunately the autograph needs to be listed in a current, live auction and not privately owned. Based on what you've seen looking at the autograph, do you think it's worth pursuing with PSA?

Incidently, spent this afternoon watching the 1978 Superman with my missus and 7 year old daughter. It's still amazing. What is it about that film which makes me want to cry like a baby?!!

Cheers!

Not everything has to be about dollars and cents. Remember Owen's 66 cent coin collection in "Throw Mama From the Train":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZpfHrTcS4Y

Though worth 66 cents to anyone else, those coins meant a lot more than 66 cents, the memories attached to those coins were invaluable to Owen.

If similarly you feel strongly about the piece, then submission is the way to go, only if it's important to you to know one way or the other if that ink truly belongs to Reeve. And you know what? Nothing in autographs is a certainty. Signed official documents, witnessed autographs; these are certainties. A COA is the opinion of the examiner and nothing more. Like Owen an his collection, the way you feel about the piece and the precious memories attached, something that a price cannot be put on, is far more important than someone's opinion.

Wise words indeed, Woody. You're absolutely right. Much appreciated. Cheers!
