I don't like it. Maybe this link will be helpful.
Joe - you are fast! I agree - looking at the same exemplars - not liking it for several reasons.

I have studied Clark Gable's autograph for many years, and in my opinion, this is a genuine signature.
Can you say why, Pamela? I was looking at some of the letter formations, that hard "l", and some slants, spacing and relationships, and the overall legibility with a bit of baseline from this period 1942. What are you seeing?
Eric
It looks extremely neatly done for an in-person. I would have bet is fits more closely with an early 50's. Very rounded "k"; most I've looked have there is a little hitch in it, and not rushed at all. Of course, just my opinion.
My eyes could be deceiving me but I see differences in the two as examples and the one you started this discussion with. I'm not saying I am right but I do see differences.
I think Pamela Ewing has much more experience with Clark than I. I've owned a number of them over the years and have probably looked at several hundred or so. It could very well be an extremely nice example, it just doesn't look at I would expect. The slant, spacing, neatness, and the "k" strikes me as a bit odd. Probably PSA or JSA is the route to go on this one.
