I bought this photo a couple years ago off eBay. Anyone have any opinions about their authenticity?

The writing of the autographs in itself looks typical to me. But is it really live ink? Looks printed to me.

Agree with KaiMi about concerns with the ink. May even be a fine felt tip pen (which was not around in 1942 when Carole died). Does this photo look at least 80 years old in person?

Hi,

I just examined the photo pretty closely. The signatures were written on the photo. The paper is thick, with some waving at the top. It also has some wear around the edges. Overall, it is in pretty good shape.

Mrs Gable's signature is slightly thicker that a regular pen would write. I don't know about the different pens they had back then. Mr. Gable's signature looks like the real deal.

It's a hard call. I have some sheet music that were printed in the 1920s, and 30s. They look really good. Lombard's signature looks pretty good. I checked it out with some authentic examples. I just don't know.

I just looked again at your provided scans. I'm thinking both signatures are with a fiber/felt tip pen. Gable's with a fine point and Lombard's with a more standard point. From what I can see, this looks like a repro. photo as well (notice how the lady on the left's dress, coat and bag all fade into one another). The faces have that look of being washed out.
