Hi All,

After a bit of a hiatus, I have come back to the autograph world, and one thing I am interested in acquiring is a Mickey Mantle signed baseball.  I found one that I'm interested in here:

It looked good to me when I compared it to the common forgeries and it's from a reputable seller, but I wanted to know if anyone here saw anything wrong with the Mantle autograph.  It looked good to me, but I wanted a second opinion from someone here.

Thanks for the help!

thanks for the quick responses.  generally, what's the price range for a Mickey Mantle baseball?

Looks like your reply is deleted or something but I am assuming you are asking general price of a Mantle ball. With no COA with some patience you can find them for $300-$350. With PSA/DNA or JSA LOA you're looking at $350-$450 pending condition.

Looks like some staining on the seams but the autograph is beautiful. $400 or so IMO would be the value. If not for the staining, $500 or more based on the overall condition of the ball. The autograph would be hard to improve upon.

Hey Randy I saw a "To Randy" Mantle earlier... quite faded tho:

Yeah, I found that one a few days ago and offered $150 for it since the inscription and autograph was weak but Dave and Adam's Card World didn't accept the offer. They countered at $200 which I thought was a little too high for it but it is the first one I have seen with the "To Randy" inscription.

Thanks for passing the link on. It was on a Cronin ball which made it a little better. I still may pull the trigger.

+1 on the Cronin ball.  its an earlier sig.  pretty cool.

You know about six years ago, I was sitting in a sports memorabilia store in the KC area and a woman walked in with two personalized Mickey Mantle baseballs and offered them to the owner for $100 each because she said she could use the money and she had had them since she was a kid, and didn't really care about them anymore. They were both made out to her "To Becky Best Wishes Mickey Mantle". She said that one of her relatives had been friends with Mickey and she got to see him a couple of times, and he made out the balls to her when she like 10 years old.

Well the owner didn't want them because they were personalized. So she offered them to me for $50 each. Unfortunately, I only had like $20 on me and didn't have my debit card on me. Well, I believed her story, and I thought they were definitely authentic. So I got her number and said I would call her tomorrow. When I called her, she said sorry they were gone. She ended up getting $150 for both.

I am still kicking myself about that steal of a deal I missed on. If I had just had $50 on me I would have gotten a real Mantle for next to nothing. And they were both boldly signed. Well I just had to share that story. I'm still going through the healing process. Ha, ha!
