Hi- Anyone have an opinion to share on the possible authenticity of the following Madonna signed photo? Larger pic is followed by a close-up of the signature. All opinions would be greatly appreciated... -Syren

I believe this is likely authentic.

Thanks James. I picked this up on eBay on the cheap (not my usual M.O.) because I just had a feeling on this one. My reasons? The seller was NOT a dealer (a PLUS on eBay, if you ask me), had no other autographs for sale (so not likely a forger) and had no negative feedback in over 13 years. Photo has some age on it and signature looks similar to another I picked up from a private collector in the early 90's. For what it's worth, it comes with a COA ( I know-so what!) from a company called Star Struck International out of Fairfield, Ca. Any experience with this dealer or know of their reputation in the field? I don't even know where to pose such a question in the Forum... -Syren

I like your reasoning on all counts, Syreena. I agree that most of the forgers are selling multiple autographs, not just one at a time. It's the way they put food on the table! I've bought a few autographs also from sellers whose primary business was not autographs. They might have a potpourri of items, only one of which is an autograph that they might have found at an estate sale, and all they want to do is move it quickly to keep a steady cash flow. Their intent is by no means to try and sell a fake. So sometimes, in cases like that, you can score a good deal, as you have done here. As long as it's not a copy, I think you did well here.

As for Star Struck, I personally don't know of them, but you could just pose the question in "Town Square".
