All I can say from that scan is 1) why "early" with that 70's "F"? and 2) need a much better scan to see/say anything else rational; from this it appears poor and with that break between "F" and "r"...

Eric

Well, I say early, because he signed similar to this in the 40's. But this item is listed on eBay. Here is the listing: https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/391403841259

Hello again,

Show me a 1940's exemplar where he signed like that with that "F". He started using that "F" decades later. Signed vintage 1940's Sinatra portraits are few - this is signed in pencil on the reverse...and not by Sinatra. This is akin to the name written on the back of a press photo. It's just a name.

Eric

It's not that exact F in the usual 40's examples it's more of a looped F in the 40's examples. I just noticed a signature. I guess I shouldn't think just because it's on an old press photo from the time that it's signed. But thank you for your time!

I do not believe this is an authentic Frank Sinatra. Not at all.

I didn't think so, I was more in it for the photo itself. I like collecting vintage photos.

Hi,

This link below might be of interest/use to you. I collect photographs and slides/transparencies as well. You can see some of mine in the book Designing Tomorrow: America's World's Fairs of the 1930's by Yale Univ. Press and the NBM.

Judging the Authenticity of Photographs

Edit to add: That Sinatra trimmed "wire photo" (I don't think it is) auction did not even mention that name written in pencil on the Reverse. Why did you think anything of it?

Thank you! This will most certainly help a lot. I find a lot of vintage photos at antique markets and such and buy them most times.
