Hello everybody

I am a novice collector and I would like to request a little of help because I only want to collect authentic autographs.

I've just purchased a few signed photos from the ebay seller CALVI-MARCE.

Hi Etienne :)

That kind of reply does not make me feel all warm and fuzzy. Very...bossy? I don't like ultimatums or these things he has said and how he has said them. He also essentially said he has bought autographs he could not resell without difficulty. Not inspiring trust there! What does the statement reduce to?

The simple answer to his question you quoted "It is up to you.." - easy - NO. Don't follow up - the many educated responses in this thread drive that point home I believe.

Eric

He's telling you that you got them cheap because they are garbage, and if you want real stuff you will have to pay more elsewhere.

At least that is what I took away from his statement.

In my opinion the Steve McQueen is definitely not real. It's not even close.  BTW, a genuine McQueen signed photo like that would be worth $2,000 or more.

I wanted to begin the collection of autographs but I decided that I shall not begin as long as this person can continue his sales of highly questionables autographs.

It is unbearable to me.

Evil people exist in this world, every hobby has their share of frauds and fakers. Autographs have been forged for at least 100 years, and bringing those forgers to justice, just never seems to happen, all we can do is enjoy our hobby and educate the new collectors.

if one person can make your decision for you, maybe this is not the hobby for you. You can however, join this hobby and be quite successful in it, if you choose to allow people to help you make the right choices.

If nobody ever fights against the injustices, you will not should come to complain that the injustices exist. We cannot content with regretting.

I shall not fight against the whole world, but I have the energy to fight against one person who takes advantage of the innocence of people.

Later I shall collect.

I do understand your point, but looking at the history of this hobby, you will see long drawn out, extremely expensive legal battles, waged against forgers, by the celebrities whose names have been forged.

The results tend to be a monetary fine, to which the forger declares bankruptcy, and reopens his doors with a new name.

At that point the plaintiff gets nothing but a pile of legal bills and court fees.

I wish you good luck with your fight, but please know that my comments are made here to save you a whole lot of time, energy and money.

My purpose is simply to make this seller known hoping that his victims can know and try be indemnified. And simply so that fewer and fewer people are trapped.
