There was a thread not too long ago where a similar elton with a full signature failed authentication. I believe they sent it to Beckett. PSA has been authenticating the 1st name eltons. Take that for what its worth. Authenticators make mistakes.. Its still not a 100% guarantee they are real or fake either way.
I actually believe this one is real. Elton does change up his signature at times. If this isnt real, we need to question all of these signed cds hes released in the past year. Its already been done many times. Ive seen some Elton experts on here, with way more experience than I have, state how they feel these mass produced versions are real. However,, there are still forgeries being passed around.
Im not a fan of the Lupa cards but I believe they are mostly sloppy from signing too fast. The christmas cds are not far behind. Lockdown were signed the best with some signed with the clockwise loop at the bottom of his E. He seemed to have taken his time with those..
Ive posted a thread about Elton Lockdown art cards being reproduced and forged, sold on ebay. It could also be happening with the Lupa cards. Overall, I personally like the full signature on yours but let's let more people chime in
Jason,
Thanks for your input and point of view. Even though I might be biased since I own the postcard, I agree with you. Brian made me think twice about the authenticity, trying to distinguish if the "Elton" is real or not. Looking at it again, it looks atypical. As you say it might be rushed, understandably he had hundreds to sign. The "John" to me looks pretty good. If a forger did that, he did a hell of a job.
And yes, as you say, he often changes his signatures at times. I'm thinking to get shortcuts to a quicker signature.
Thanks for posting this Brian. Actually the signature looks so identical to the other that now it is making me think that it could be a reprint. I agree, I don't think the one that I currently have is authentic.
This is a strange one.. i took a minute to compare both.. did Eltons team attempt an autopen? Did some slip out before they abandoned the idea? Or is someone using a signature template to print on blank Lupa cds? The signature is identical but placement is not the same
I'm unable to post pictures again.. have no clue whats going on with my phone
I'll try again later. Can you post a clean closeup of you elton signature? I'd love to see it there are flow lines, signs of an autopen, or if this looks like it was printed with a regular printer
Also, where did you get yours? Curious if these originated from the same seller
When I get a chance later I will post a close up picture. I purchased it on Mercari also, but to another seller. Either the seller found out it was not authentic and decided to re-sell it OR the seller has multiple accounts. I just checked my tracking info again and it says that the shipping label was created in Texas but the item was shipped from California. Def something odd is going on.
The autopen or reprint assumption is me thinking out loud. It could be that these sellers are making reproductions by their own means to deceive the customer.
On par with Etsy for the award of bottom-feeder marketplace that's full of fakes and frauds.
Not sure if you saw the discussion I started about reproduced Lockdown artcards but ill post the link below. I was very close to purchasing a full name version on a Lupa cd from ebay a few months ago. Not sure if it was the same template but I think it most likely was at this point. I research like crazy and could have been fooled still just as easily so dont feel bad. Thank you for starting this thread so others can be aware as well.
