Authenticity is Everything
Elvis opinions please!
Given to me in a partial set of Elvis cards decades ago. I'm not really an Elvis guy so I'd welcome opinions on whether I should follow up with authentication or keep it in my X-files. Took the best picture at the best angle I could to make the ink pop out of the background, this one was the best effort out of a few dozen pictures I took to get the most visibility of the ink.

Oh forgot to add just from start of graph the top of the L in Elvis is uncommonly low from the examples I just checked out usually stretched higher

My impression as well, but to me, the "resley" and connection from the 's' to the "P", as well as the "E" resembled some authenticated examples I've reviewed. I always thought it a "secretarial" or "fan club" sig, because of the existing similarities. Figured I'd run it by more eyes before it goes back into the partial set from whence it came.

Has to be secretarial, somebody very familiar with his handwriting, often called upon as a proxy, because it's not that far off without sign of hesitation and hitching. The main thing I see is what you noted, that almost all PSA/DNA authenticated examples feature an "l" that is at least of equal height from the baseline to the top of the letters to as much as 25% taller! The "resley" looks spot on compared to PSA exemplars.

It's a great pic, great scenery, not your typical stage or portrait shot. And the bike! The art has got that colorized photo 50s thing going on too. Very cool.

I didn't think so either but I wanted more eyes on it to be sure. I was going through boxes, came across the partial Elvis set, and before I put it back away, I figured I'd run it by here just to be 100% certain. I know Elvis somewhat, and saw a few "ray of hope" elements, but not enough really to compel me to send it out. In person, the ink appears to be old. I'd guess in the 40-50 year range so authenticity wasn't totally impossible, worth a look, and a big thank you to all in confirming what I suspected.

the "resley" is off too. The "s" is closed, for example. Most, if not all of his signatures had the "s" in Presley open to one degree or another. Very rarely closed, like this one is.
the Elvis is way off.

I've seen that second 's' in three different forms on PSA authenticated EP signatures; open, like you point out, which is the most common way, or 2) back tracked about halfway and then upward-looped into the second 'l', and I've also, 3) seen it closed, back-tracked upon itself and closed, like this one.
What always deterred me from feeling it was authentic was the first thing pointed out, the first 'l' only 80% the height of the "E'. I always think of the second 'l' as being the architectural high-point consistent of all authenticated EPs that I've looked at (aside from the "P").
But because it's seamless and signed with verve, a long time ago (I've owned the card for 30+ years), I figured fan club, maybe the mother, the wife, a secretary or member, etc.. Someone that signs his name a lot, other than him.
