Early in his career -- looks just fine...

I've seen this photo on the Auction at Graceland. And honestly, I wouldn't bid on this. I mean that in general it looks like on the Elvis' signature 1954, but I really don't like a few points.

1) The way he wrote "P" and "E" in the 1954, had a little bit different "style".
2) Most of all signatures from 1954, which I've seen were signed by pencil (plus, they were signed on piece of paper or album page).
3) How often have you seen Elvis' signed his own photo in 1954? This happened pretty often in 1955, but 1954 - it was only start of his career (in this year there weren't many Elvis' photos and other merch, because he wasn't too much popular in 1954). Only in 1955 Hank Snow decided to include young musicians (Elvis, Scotty and Bill) on the page of his souvenir folio album / brochure. And only in the end of 1955 Elvis signed a contract with the Colonel...

P.S. I see some other atypical moments in this signature. So as I said I don't want to bid on this. I don't feel confident about this an autograph on 100%.
However, who knows... It could be a real signature.

I would lean heavily towards authentic

All the letters look proper for Elvis' hand in the inscription and signature

This one is worth a quick opinion from Roger Epperson if I were interested in buying it

Good luck as it's a beautiful item if real

Thank you all. Any more opinions?

What do you all think? Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Hi Karsten

It seems like you are anxious to buy this Elvis

Its a great item so I can't blame you

My advice is send it to Epperson asap

And if possible get Rich Consola to have a look, although I don't know if he does online authentication

Best of luck my friend

Would make a great stocking stuffer LOL

I totally agree with Goodcat. If you really want to bid on it, just spend a few dollars on Roger Epperson' opinion. It will be a pretty rational desicion.

P. S. I just find it hard to believe that Elvis could have signed his own photo in 1954. But maybe I'm just too skeptical...

You bring up a very valid point Timothy

It's right at his breakthrough time with Sam Phillips and we all know how big he hit the scene from the get go.

If this is authentic, it could be one of his very first signed photo's if not his very first.

Pretty exciting if it's the real deal

Does it say "Sun" at the bottom?

Meaning Sun Records maybe?

Thank you Timothy and Goodcat and you are right. I will spend a few dollars to get Rogers opinion. After that I will think about it.

let us know what Roger says please

I also think this presents odd - strict reading the study at RR etc. There is also a 1956 signature there to see. This is neat, legible, odd...strange loops and slants to my eye. Dotted "i". hesitation in the "V" which looks odd, that first "l" leaning over, (second "l" supposed to be so looped?), letter heights...See what others see/say. "Sun" seems optimistic? Perhaps I too am overtly cautious.

Good observations Eric

And yes it's especially important to be very cautious and ask anyone available when it comes to Elvis

He's still the King ya know lol
