Now this is really sad. Just today, a copy of "The Saturday Evening Post" from 1961 purportedly signed by President John F. Kennedy and authenticated by GFA sold for $4950. I checked to verify that $4950 was actually the amount it sold for, and it was.

That item had been up for sale on eBay for months, and I was hoping that no one would actually buy it, but apparently someone did. And it's an out-and-out fake! Whoever forged it was attempting to make it resemble one of Kennedy's more rushed styles. But it's a forgery - no doubt about it. As many of you know, Kennedy's signature can be difficult at times to authenticate because he had MANY authentic styles (and this isn't one of them) as well as having as many as 17 different secretaries sign for him, not to mention several autopen styles as well.

Plus, it's authenticated by GFA. That says it all pretty much right there. There's a reason why it wasn't sent to PSA or JSA - because it's not real.

Why did this buyer choose this one when he/she could have had one of the real ones that is up for sale on eBay right now?!

Here's a link to the auction:

is threre a picture of it?

Oh man....what a shame

 its really sad

You took the words right out of my mouth, Michelle! What's even more sad is that even if this were authentic, the buyer would have probably over paid. A nicely-signed photo with an inscription might be worth close to that much, and even though this almost looks like a photo, it's not quite the same.
To drop nearly 5K on this, and the buyer probably feels reassured having that GFA LOA to go with it. She/he probably thinks that GFA certs is like having the golden ticket! Now that really is a shame, Julie!

And won't go anywhere else for authentication feeling so sure...I can relate...I hope they stumble on this site if a doubt should occur down the road

Ya, I hope they do too. Hopefully, while they still have time to get a refund.
