Eric, one of my favorite pieces is this Clapton. Full name, signed on the body, guitar still has plastic on it...his signature model. The person who got this signed was the same guy who designed Kurt Cobain's Fender Mustang. Just love this piece.

Awesome! Great signature and placement, ON guitar! 1990? Pre-Vintage Noiseless pups - Lace Sensors? I'm surprised the truss is at the neck but certainly easier! :)

1990 yes. The rest is French to me haha. When I saw it I had to have it. It is gorgeous. Here is a closeup of the signature. Just textbook.

It's a really nice and large signature! I love it and the item its on! The Clapton sig guitar is a 1954 base model with a soft 1957 V neck (like Beck, Gilmour, Guy, etc). And with some mods. What matters is these early models are rather desirable! Did you keep all the paperwork etc?

It has everything with it. Mark Wittenberg gave it to a Reprise Records employee who put it away and never opened it. It's never seen the light of day. The signature looks like it was signed yesterday.

Amazing! I would hate to think the guitar was worth more without the signature now! That could be possible!

The plastic is there. I wondered if I should remove it. Should I? And yes, the Jag-Stang. And then the guy passed away shortly thereafter.

Hi Devon,
Well it "should" be OK. I have never heard of one on for 26 years! Folks try to retain them and they start peeling etc from use in a month or a week. Yours should be totally intact? Unless its harmful (I'll try to find out), I'd leave it all original - worked for 26 years! :) Do you keep the guitar tuned or slightly lowered a bit? There are 2 schools of thought for that. Did these come with cases back then? I am guessing so. I do not like those neck-hanging things at all.

I don't touch it.
It is in its original case.
Not sure if I should be doing anything to it...I leave it in the case locked in a secure dark room.

Well, sounds good to me. No extremes - heat or cold...maybe a little silica gel packet in the case. That's it. Some might slacken the strings a touch but I believe this might throw off truss rod. AKA, I think you are fine. :) Other guitar folks in here will know more.
