Noticed a few of these fully signed Floyd albums to hit the market via dealers/eBay....both of which share same characteristics for David, Nick, and Rick - all three are not authentic. These albums have came out of the UK.

The first item below, the Waters is definitely authentic and one the second album, I would lean more toward not likely authentic for Roger (or if authentic - VERY atypical). However, I am very confident that these are coming from the same source and I am very confident that the other three are NOT authentic. FYI to avoid.

If I may make a comment, the idea of promoting a "recommended seller list" is one of those concepts that sound good in theory but is problematic in execution. It becomes more about people instead of the autographs themselves.

I believe this site works the best when the discussions focus on individual signatures and not the person or company selling them. The goal is to enlighten and educate so each individual collector, who has the desire to do so, can better learn how to make informed decisions on their own.

There is already a free buy, sell, trade board here that works well in keeping things clean. Everyone should be allowed to use it as long as the autograph is legitimate. That's freedom at it's best with no agendas.

My advice, stay out of the "recommended seller" game. It will only lead to trouble. It won't stop the massive forgery problems. Nothing will. Welcome to collecting in the 21st century.

if youre buying something youre not sure about, post it and have discussion. we’re all human and nobody is perfect. An expert on jfk may not be an expert on mj may not be an expert on jim morrision.

you simply have to do your homework in this game, especially if youre dropping serious clams. Refusing to study or learn or even do a simple price comparison is no excuse when you get taken to the cleaners for buying an “authentic IP king tut autograph for $125

agreed

I'm not exactly thinking of a recommended seller list, but someway to identify longtime members who have shown themselves to be very careful about authenticity when they sell, have sold numerous times, and other members have had successful transactions from.

Seamus and Goodcat feel I should remove members known as forgery sellers. I don't do that, though, because sometimes people we believe are forgery sellers come here and take part in discussions about their autographs, typically defending them of course. I think that's valuable and helps educate collectors about what the marketplace is like and how they need to make sure themselves that what they're thinking about buying is genuine.

I also don't want collectors to think that every member of this site is reliable, because I can't review everyone. Granted, the vast majority of longterm members are honest, but nothing should be assumed.

The purpose of Autograph Live is not as a place to buy and sell autographs, though. It's a community to help collectors communicate with each other, make more collecting friends, share news and experience, and learn how to identify forgeries and genuine autographs.

The Buy/Sell/Trade group was established because a lot of members asked for it. And yes, it works well as long as members help monitor it.

I am open to suggestions. This actually should be a separate discussion.

is it possible to put a star or asterisk or some kind of symbol beside a long term member in good standing's name

This is what I meant when I said it's a tough call how to handle it.

maybe things are just fine the way they are.

education is the main goal here and this thread is proof positive of that

Yes, it is possible to put certain members in a member group and put a star or something by their photo, or put the name of their member category under their photo.

I'll start a new discussion probably later today.

This should be a separate discussion indeed, as its taking away from the OP, but an important topic.

Also, I believe my thoughts pertaining to removing members was misconstrued - I meant by my original comment that it was frustrating that the member with these Floyd items in question was active on the forum, but previously would not respond to this post - Nothing to do with a ban.

Thanks. I'll start this as a different discussion later.
