Anyways Rick It was nice talking with you and everyone here. Since there is so much in question with our Ted Williams Photo, we have decided to remove it from Ebay ourselves, until we can have JSA or PSA/DNA look at it further.

We never want to sell anyone a fake item, because as collectors ourselves we want real items too.

Take Care.

Actually GAI is not banned on Ebay. However eBay did just recently update their list of approved 3rd party authenticators and they removed the old GAI company and updated to the new GA.

Here is the list off "approved" authenticators:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/authentication.html#authentication

I can no longer locate the list of banned COA's and I noted that the authenticators are no longer 'approved' as stated before. Now it just has some stuff about how the listed companies pledge to certain things.

There has been some recent changes in the autograph area at ebay and none of them have been good for the hobby.

Also, I'm tired of people stating their opinion as fact. For example:

Also GAI is a banned COA on eBay.

This is not a fact and needs to be stated as such.

I am not here to defend any authenticator and I don't do sports so I have no opinion on the item in question. I just want to clarify the facts which were blatantly misrepresented.

I assumed GAI was on eBay's banned COA list and am SHOCKED if it is not.

Regardless, what is FACT is that GAI certed thousands of Williams/Mantle/Dimaggio forgeries like the ones listed above and has the credibility of a steaming pile of crap.

While I do not think they were officially banned, for a period eBay was pretty much automatically removing GAI certs with Mike Baker signatures. The overwhelming odds are they are clunkers.

Now with the new laissez-faire attitude at eBay, GAI and GA seem to have been absolved and have been granted a new lease on life.

Robert not slandering you.  But here on AM a lot of people are looking for forgeries or questionable items.  And letting in be known.  A lot of people are using there hard earned money to buy crap like this.  Its gotta stop.

I definitely respect that and ask that any of you guys let me know if we are ever selling anything questionable. Sometimes even knowledgeable sellers like us make mistakes. This could be one of those times.

Like i said we usually try to use JSA and PSA but unfortunately sometimes we make a mistake when buying an item.

Good job, Robert. All dealers make mistakes. The good ones own it and fix the issue. Kudos to you. :-)

Robert I appreciate you doing the right thing and removing the item, if you ever have a questionable item feel free to post it on AML for opinions.

forgers prefer GA/GAI because of stupid uneducated buyers.  By selling these and knowing their problems you are not only doing a disservice to your customers but also the hobby.

These idiot sellers will do anything to rip you off.

When their write ups say something like, "I bought at an auction so I'm not sure what its worth" is a giveaway. They are playing dumb beforehand so they have an excuse when they get caught ripping you off.

I cant believe a buyer would purchase anything if the seller isn't even convinced its authentic.

I actually purchased a Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams dual signed 8x10 authenticated by GAI and Mike Baker awhile back.  It is actually the reason I joined this site.  I wanted to know more about it   I ended up finding it was a horrible garbage forgery.  So I went to where I purchased it and got my money back.

Just saying I stared at that photo for hours.  Trying to figure and compare to other Williams and dimaggios.    This Williams autograph is the same autograph on that forgery.

TedW looks the same and the illiams is way down on the baseline.  the M is all screwy too.  Just saying.

That is one of the many hallmarks of the forger who did the GAI horde... the "Illiams" is way below the baseline of the W. The real Williams did that once in a while... but EVERY single one of these has that trait.
