Have a look and let me know what you think. Looks like there is a blemish on the u in Lou. Is this a forger's attempt to hide a fake? Any other red flags? value? Comes with Steve Grad PSA cert. Thanks.

Thanks William.

authentic. value depends on who else is on the ball, what year it represents, type of ball, etc.

17 members of the 1936 Yankees team. Signers are: Lou Gehrig (ss), Joe DiMaggio, Bill Dickey, Tony Lazzeri, Red Ruffing, Bump Hadley, George Selkirk, Jake Powell, Don Heffner, Johnny Broaca, Jack Saltzgaver, Roy Johnson, Walter ‘Jumbo’ Brown, Myril Hoag, Johnny Schulte, and two indecipherable. Dimaggio is heavily faded. Haarridge BB.

assuming there are no clubhouse signatures, I would guess the value to be around $3500.

I would estimate the value at $1500 or so especially since you say the Dimaggio is very weak and the Gehrig is not that strong either. This also assumes there are no clubhouse signatures. The rookie Dimaggio autograph on the '36 ball is obviously very important to the value with the Gehrig and Lazzeri being the other keys.

Gehrig alone on the sweet spot which, for a ball that is almost 80 years old, is in pretty decent shape.  the signature itself is very readable and definitely authentic.  even without the other keys, that ball is worth more than 1500, just based on the Gehrig.

The Gehrig is probably a 5 and the Dimaggio is very worn according to the description. Balls in this condition can easily be bought in large auction houses for much closer to $1500 than $3500 in my opinion. You are certainly entitled to your opinion which you have expressed and I am entitled to mine which I have also expressed. The authenticity of the Gehrig is not in question.

you are correct in that we have our own opinions.  let me know when you find one for 1500, I may buy it.

LOL, William.  People forget how rare Gehrig signatures are.  lots of clubhouse.  I have one on a 1929 ball, with Ruth and a bunch of other HOF'er, but the ball is shellacked and very dark.  This ball is in much nicer shape, in my opinion.  the signature may be a "5", but if it were a "10" I would be very concerned.

That Lou Gehrig is definitely authentic.

Hello Gentlemen,

I asked for another picture of the ball as there was a glare on the gehrig. The ball is shellacked. What does that do to value? I don't own a shellacked ball now is there anything I should be concerned about?

See updated photo. Thanks guys.
