I'm going to be bold and be the first to put my neck on the block.
My guess is that the George is real despite looking so different to his normal autograph. The natural flow of it is the most convincing thing for me. It is also not a million miles away from one that I own:
I also have no idea about the Lester but having looked at a few Google examples of his fuller signature, I presume it's real too.
It would be good to have some provenance. I've seen the auction listing and it doesn't appear to have any. Just an LOA from Leo Marshall, whoever he is.
Well, this proves that George undeniably did acid.
I can't really tell as it is so scrawled and misshapen. In the end, there are so many fine examples for sale of George's beautiful signature so why invest in this even if real?
Strangely, I am actually strongly attracted to such unusual and rushed examples. That isn't why I bought my own example, which was also signed by Paul and Ringo, as well as being unusual for other reasons too - but it was an added bonus for me.
Fab, that George sure looks real to me.
Glad you agree Steve. It is being offered on 20 March by De Mouchelles auction house in Detroit. I'd never heard of them before. They have a few Beatles items but the other Beatles autographs look bogus to me. The estimate on this likely genuine George is $30-$50 but it is already at $250. The only other item with bids is some sheet music from "Here Comes The Sun", which is purportedly signed by George too. That one looks dubious to me but not as bad as some of the others.
The Here Comes the Sun is genuine as this came from Genesis publications and was one of George's officially signed products with Genesis (there were three prints plus he did several book sets for them)
Thanks for that. I thought it stood a chance, especially given the way the "George" was written.
Sold for $750 + fees. That tells you all you need to know about likely authenticity - i.e. it is most probably authentic.
