i havent bought a hendrix signature for 18 months as i have been disillusioned by fakes and prices however i have bitten the bullet and bought a signed woodstock programme from a bookshop in the UK near where i live it had been on e bay for a couple of days before i bought it , it comes with a letter from the original owner explaining how he and his friends were waiting for a tractor to pull them out of mud while leaving woodstock and that JIMI pulled up alongside them in his car ,stuck in traffic jimi signed the guys programme and let him take 3 photos one of him signing the actual programme another of jimi waving them goodbye from the car with a beaming smile and another of the view of woodstock from the kids stuck van,the photos are the originals and are great as you can see its hard to believe Jimi just drove out of woodstock with the other kids

for me this is a great piece having a photo of Jimi actually signing the programme i have in my hands is fantastic these kind of proof photos are commonplace now but not from back in 69, the signed page is tatty as its had things stuck to it and there are better Hendrix signatures and sets out there but not many with this kind of provenance , im thinking of laying a cut clean original page over it for framing purposes its not cheap its a big purchase for me and ill have to sell a couple of my other hendrix items or other autographs to pay off the credit card.as you do

so the question im asking is this your thing when collecting autographs or is a clean page etc of more importance to you ,a clean woodstock programme sold at RR recently for big bucks but had no photos and therefore less exact provenance i wouldnt have bought that and couldnt have afforded it but for me i would rather have the tattier programme with the photos and great letter  whats your thoughts does great provenance counter a clean signature assuming you cant get both

i have put two photos up the first being the clean RR set the second the set with photos etc please let me know your thoughts and collecting preferences

thank you

all photos are now on the main piece

Congratulations Roger. Very nice timeless historical piece Hendrix at Woodstock. Has someone stuck a newspaper clipping on the program when he died?
The signature looks great and the photos are very cool. As far as a Hendrix goes any signature is fantastic and to know the history off the autograph is even better. You have to realize these items are old so being a little grubby is fine it probably still smells off pot smoke.
Could you send me a digital copy off the hendrix waving goodbye. When you buy Hendrix you have to bite a bullet. They command premiums.
18 months without a Hendrix (fell off the wagon).

Considering that both signatures are solid, I think I would prefer the cleaner one. That said, it’s a signed Woodstock program(!) It’s a very desirable piece with a nice signature and a cool story behind it. The photos are a major bonus. Congrats!

I agree with ballroom.a signed program is rare enough.would love to own either one.congrats.

thanks Paul.paul.Ballroom appreciated
