How is it that some Mantle balls authenticated by psa and jsa appear to be faker than most forgeries I've seen.

I'm really trying to get a grasp on how to recognize real from forgeries and thought I was on the right track but the more I look at the more confused I become. Just searching through ebay I notice several Mantle balls that I would swear are poor forgeries yet they are authenticated by very reputable companies. Here are a couple links that are adding to my confusion.

Am I missing something or am I just still a serious amateur when it comes to autographs

Nothing wrong with those Mantle sigs.

Very authentic.  No-brainer Mantle autographs.

those are authentic. you will be hard pressed to find and error by JSA or PSA on Mantles.  other signatures, for certain, but they are very reliable when it comes to Mantle.

Clearly I'm getting nowhere in being able to distinguish the real from the fake. Good thing there's you guys.

Not sure where to post this but I'm looking for an eddie mathews ball if anyone has one to get rid of.

They are not the best specimens but clearly authentic. Better keep studying Mantle.

Both no question authentic
