Hi Michelle, Eddy and Eric thanks for your comments. I bought the picture (I don’t think II has been posted yet as it was early this morning) I’ve enquired about another picture too and the seller hasn’t got back to me yet. Just going back to what Eric said about possible secretarial. I did an image search on the pic and another two came up both signatures on the picture are dated 1945 and 1946, I’ll post the pictures below. Would this point to the picture being a secretarial (mine isn’t dated) . All thoughts are greatly appreciated. I just hope I haven’t been too hasty. If so I’m sure I could come to an arrangement with the seller he was a nice guy

Here’s mine

Hello,

The reason I mentioned "secretarial" was because of the size - 80& of vintage 5x7's are secretarial and those are usually revealed by being very xlear and legible.and/or obviously in a different hand.

Minnie -

Attached is an 'in-person' autograph that Ms. Bergman gave in the Hollywood Canteen in the early/mid-1940s.  This would have been most certainly a rushed one & under busy circumstances (also appears to be in pencil as opposed to your fountain pen photo).  I see some very strong similarities between the one you just purchased and this one.   Again, the photo would have been more intentionally signed & focused.

If you have any lingering concerns (given that feedback upthread here of yours possibly being secretarial has been mentioned) you could forward a link of this discussion to the seller.  Let them read this thread for themselves and see what further thoughts/info. they may have about the item they sold you.   The seller has a long experience with Bergman and would certainly never knowingly sell a secretarial item to a customer.

I've not said "this is secretarial" to clarify - it was a general comment for the reasons already stated.

Hi Eric,

I know it was a general comment and a valid one the information is out there regarding the size of the picture etc. As I said to Eddy I have absolutely no reason to think the seller is dishonest etc. I have posted here many times regarding a Bergman signature and I just want to feel 100% and happy. I’m sorry if I have offended you.

I always value your comments

You have not offended me! How? :-) All is fine Minnie.

:)

I know that Eddy the seller seems like a good fella and I am in no doubt of his honesty at all. I just want to be a 100% sure it’s something I’ve been after for so long, thanks as always for your comments Eddy :)

You're most welcome...and that's quite understandable.

I do know that he offers return privileges in case things are still not settled for you regarding it even after receiving it.

michelle knows Bergman well and I think the points in that input was good......

He hasn’t posted yet Eddy I was going to add a Ros Russell sig to save on postage. I’m that certain of the seller reputation I’m willing to wait until he has a Bergman signature I’m happy with (the right era) etc. my favourite film is Notorious I wanted something from that era.
