Hello! I came across this on ebay, it doesn't seem to have the common autopen traits and the seller claims that it's the real deal but I could really do with a second opinion! any ideas?

These are all undoubtedly common Autopen patterns. You can find matching patterns here: http://www.astroautopens.com

Thanks very much, sorry for asking you all the time, I feel like a bit of a fool trying to figure this all out for myself sometimes! Do you know where I might find some good examples of his actual signature to reference?

There is no online signature study that I am aware of. In fact, I am considering doing one myself on my web site www.spaceLOA.com

Anders is a tough one and it took me quite a while to build up a good exemplar file. Relics of the Space Race by Russ Still is out of print, but it has a page of good Anders examples.

I saw one Zarelli authenticated stamp block on ebay, a bit pricey but understandable for Anders, I'd just prefer something a bit clearer but I might bite the bullet and go for it. I hate looking at my living room wall and seeing that blank space under Anders 8x10!

That would be a really interesting study, I look forward to reading it should you ever get around to writing one. I see so many really poorly executed fakes online, and I've been looking for a nice example (at a reasonable price) for some time now, a reference guide with strong exemplars would be a real asset to the community.

Cheers Steve, thanks for your help again!

The stamp block is a really nice W A Anders example. Earlier signature and undoubtedly authentic. I examined a number of items from that collection... all really nice Gemini era signature styles on stamp blocks.

But I certainly understand the signature could get lost in the detailed artwork underneath. Real Anders never go cheap or fly below the radar. Too many people are always scouring for them. If you are interested in the stamp block I'm sure the seller could work with you.

I am indeed interested but i'll have to keep it in the crosshairs a little longer until I get the cash together. I'm going to the Autographica show in London in a couple of weeks time, (im from Ireland so it's only a stone throw away for me)  hoping to get Buzz Aldrin to sign a Calle print for me, and as I'm sure you know his autograph is an expensive commodity these days! Can't wait to meet Alan Bean as well, I've heard that he is an absolute gentleman.
