Just wondering about people’s thoughts on this autograph I recently obtained. Looks consistent with others I’ve seen but wanting opinions on it. Done in red and kind of hard to see. Thanks in advance.

Sorry Not Authentic. Get your money back if you can.

Thanks for your opinion. I’ll be keeping it either way. Just like the image and think it’s cool real or not. But will definitely keep my eye open for a real one now. Seem to be hard to come by.

I agree with J.Seah. It's definitely not real in my opinion. You can look at examples of real and not Cobains in our Nirvana forum:

Thanks, I’ll Have to look at those and get a better look for next time.

I guess while your looking. How about this one too. It’s for sale currently and claims to have documentation of when and where they signed it and supposedly done by someone in person. To me this one doesn’t look correct especially on the cobain part but I thought the other one looked good so figured I’d run it past you guys. Thanks again.

I agree with J.Seah and Steve Cyrkin, I'm not a Kurt Cobain expert but it does not look real to me, just like the 1st autograph
From the writing and it looks very new for it is over 20 years old.

This one is also not authentic. There are not many signed full name Kurt Cobain out there. The 2 you posted are widely copied. Authentic Nirvana Kurt Cobain Signed memorabilia don’t come cheap. How much did you pay for yours??? You are not going to try and get your money back????

On the last picture I sent. They claimed there was a provenance that came with it for authenticity. So I asked for information on that. They claimed it was signed in March of 1994 in Seattle Washington on lake Washington boulevard. Now, not saying their liars but I believe he was in Germany on tour and over dosed beginning of March and towards the end of March he went to the rehab facility. So I’d say slim chance the provenance is real too.

Provenance contains the word PROVEN for a reason. That is just a story you have there...anyone can look up a date, or just make stuff up.

So your saying if it has a provenance then it has to be authentic? Ya I’ll admit I may be stretching with my thought process on the signature time frame but a few people said it’s not authentic but they have a provenance with it. So both have to be real or both have to be fake.

NO. All I was saying is that the story you related is NOT provenance. Provenance is but one step on the way to authenticity. It's a road. Provenance can be faked just like the signature - sometimes in tandem, sometimes just one. I have seen fake provenance created for genuine items....remember, it is about $ to many.

Often the bigger/better the story the more likely the item is forged.
