I also see positives to the extent that I think it’s probably genuine.
Could be...
I would not sell it w/o more information. It's a Holiday weekend - I'm sure Roger will get back to you. Actually, I would not sell it either way. Poor quality.
I still haven't had a reply from Roger. Any suggestions on where to go from here?
Didn't he do an in-store for this particular album? If so, it would be good to compare a few other autographs from that era. It has some characteristics but also red flags - it is so hard to authenticate Macca nowadays as the market is flooded with forgeries.
That's interesting Robert. I've just done a quick internet search and found that he did an in store signing for the 'New' album, the one after Kisses on the Bottom, at London's HMV on Fri Oct 18th 2013. I must have taken my eye off the ball regarding Macca around that time and can't remember whether I even knew about the signing. I would love to have met him there, but probably wouldn't have ben able to get the time off work to travel to London. I moved from Uxbridge in Greater London to Emsworth on the South Coast in 1991 so any trip to London is now 75 miles away.
About 10 years ago I got into a bad habit of not listening to CDs that I had bought and a few weeks ago I found my Kisses on the Bottom CD still shrink wrapped! I seem to let TV rule the roost.
Quite a few of you have mentioned red flags, but not elaborated on them.
The presentation, the price, the "backstory"...did you mention all that to Jason?
I emailed him the picture and mentioned the price and "backstory". What do you exactly mean by presentation? It is what it is and he can see that in the picture. I have other genuine autographs that were accidentally smudged either by the signer or by me when they were handed back. Jason said that eBay authenticators are not the best and he thinks it's genuine and would make me an offer if I don't want it.
I appreciate that it is not a great example of a McCartney autograph, but it is all I have at the moment.
With the signature pretty riddled by fingerprints, spots, smudges and that "P" why would you wish to collect this? Always go for a slam dunk. I'd rather hear "WOW!" than "Well, perhaps..."
