Hi guys,

I recently bought a bunch of photos supposedly signed by Jerry Garcia. They originate from the Grateful Dead photographer Roberto Rabanne who states that they were signed by Garcia in front of him, shortly after they were developed. Of course, there's no concrete proof to this but just being original GD/Jerry Garcia photos, these hold value. I've attached many of the autographs and I am hoping I can get some opinions - they definitely differ from his more well known autograph, but I'm wondering whether he changed it up based on situation as he did when signing his lithographs/plates.

Based on the looks in the photos, I'm thinking they're from the late 60s or very early 70s (Rabanne started travelling with the Dead in 1968 based on what I could find) - unfortunately I'm unable to find many examples from that era of the Dead/Garcia.

Any input would be appreciated - thank you!

I did not know that, that is very concerning. In addition to that, I just looked through the actual auction (I previously only had seen the Garcia lots) that actually has "signed" photos of Jagger, Clapton, Elton John and Bowie - they're no where close. They all also come with the same provenance of the photographer getting them signed. I attached a photo of the Jagger.

I'm convinced too that these weren't signed by Jerry either, thanks for all of the help.

I know Arlen and have delt with them since the 90s that's how I new to do my own research.

I'd contact the auction house -- maybe you can shame them into giving you your money back. The only reason they cancelled that guitar auction was the article in the NY Post (that came about due to members on this site who informed the Post about the forgeries). Clearly they don't care if the items they sell are fake as long as they get paid.

Here is a set I got in1973 on a flight from San Fran to LA all in the Sam pen these are first hand signatures
