Hello folks. I know that the category listed is for the Autographs and I being new to this, I could not find another category to suit so apologies if I am breaking with etiquette here.

For Eric and Ballroom, I just wanted to follow up on a brief discussion regarding a coin I posted where I stated that the buyer has claimed that it came from the fascination box. I got my wires crossed with another item that I purchased that was actually claimed to have originated from that box. So the coin with regards to the fascination box was a mix up on my part.

in any case I have posted a couple of pics of the item that supposedly came from that box. It is a membership card for the SAG-AFTRA. In terms of provenance, the same seller was selling two hand written poems by JDM. I have also written to SAG-AFTRA in the hope that they might confirm authenticity although I do not know if there are confidentiality clauses they still have to abide by.

I believe the stated address is JDMs lawyer address.

As for the coin, it is a curious item. Eric and ballroom, I know you are inclined to believe it as a stretch that it was JDms personal lucky coin as the seller claimed in the auction. Any suggestions for tracking provenance would be appreciated

While it is slightly off-topic I have one of Jerry Garcia's AFTRA membership cards, but signed.

That would be a gem. Care to share a picture?

The Morrison is the real deal from my initial research but most unfortunately, not signed. Infact, I am even wondering if, despite the claims that it came from the fascination box, wether that was simply a sale boosting claim. It might be that Morrison applied for this and he never himself got to physically receive it. I only say this to err on the side of caution because it is after all, addressed to his lawyers office as I understand it. That link I posted appears to suggest that with Morrison leading a nomadic life regarding his places of residence, he may have used the lawyers office address for his comms. Who knows

Anyway, congrats on the piece that you own

Pics below of the front and back:

Thanks for sharing. Superb. Very cool

You're welcome

I don’t think I had seen this before, and unfortunately I’m not too familiar with AFTRA membership cards. I hadn’t heard that there was one in the 127 Fascination box.

Likewise. While I believe it is genuine from my research, I am not convinced it came from the hallowed box. Whatever happened to the Iranian chap who was ‘custodian’ of the box post Pamelas death? How do we know what was in the box?

I don’t know if anyone has put together an exact inventory of its contents. I believe it was in a large collection that was sold several years ago, and some of the items from the box were posted and/or offered for sale online.

Thanks Ballroom.

Anyway, back on the topic of signatures, when I first started trying to get my hands on a JDM, of course I had my fingers burned.  The attached I bought while i was in Texas would you believe.  Ironically, I think it has featured on discussions here before, i believe that Jack had commented on this prior. Anyway, this was my start point before I got the real deal.  The lady back in the day was adamant that it was the real deal.  Through trials and tribulations, and after spending some, I eventually got there.

When it looks too good...…….and all that

Sorry to read that. Yes, that’s a reprint of an authentic signature. I’m sure you’ve seen since that the original is in a copy of The New Creatures. You definitely did better the next time around though.

Yep, seen that.  Have you ever made it to Paris? I went twenty years ago. That cemetery is one cool place.

Nice! I haven’t, unfortunately. That’s a bucket list item.
