I am not an expert on Jim Morrison but I don't like it.

I would avoid this one. I see issues with spacing, fluidity and shape I am uncomfortable with.

Not authentic.

Fake!

I just learned of this piece at RR this month. It is currently bid just under $5,000.00. His value continues to grow.

They also have an unbelievable ALS from Jim. It is over $23,000.00 currently. This is one of the best Morrison pieces I have seen for sale in some time.

Agreed. What an amazing piece!

That item is a treasure Chad.    Jack...

What do you make of this?

My initial thought was it appears one of them, probably the stained version, is the original with the current RR version being a carbon copy. If that was the case, the producer and Jim's signature would be the same color. I have limited experience with carbon paper other than playing with it as a kid, though.

What do you say?

I'm not entirely sure. I also thought that the stained version was the original. It doesn't appear to me that it has been restored.

The one in RR's sale looks like a copy of the original unsigned contract made in 1967, then signed with live signatures.

The one Ballroom posted is a copy of RR's that's been distressed to look original. The ink color is the same on the printed part of the contract, the text typed into the contract, the handwritten math, and possibly the producer's signature.

And look at the paper wrinkles affecting "ENGAGEMENT" and "MULTIPLE" in the contract title and compare them to the one RR is offering. RR's title isn't affected.
