I haven't owned a Denver in awhile although I did a quick check at RR past history and it looks like it should sell in the $200 to $250 range.
Thanks Joe. That's not a bad price. This ones going for 300 or close to it on Ebay. I could try to make an offer for a little lower. Any thoughts about the authenticity?
The signature looks to be typical for him. The picture seems to be in fine condition which is a bonus. Maybe you can get a compromise with the seller at $275?
Side story. Back is the mid-70's John was one of the first concerts at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, IN. Maybe even the first concert there. It was at the peak of his popularity. What a fine show and the man had a great set of pipes!
Different world back then and we could use some of his "feel good" music today.
Thanks again, Joe! I'll make an offer to the seller and see if he bites
As a general rule, I wouldn't generally base value opinions on RR sales history.
In looking at astronaut/NASA signatures, I've found RR figures to often be hilariously off base. I wouldn't be surprised if that's an across the board thing.
Seriously, look up RR's sales history for 8x10 photos signed by Gene Kranz. Not the official NASA litho, just 8x10 photos. Some will be signed by Sy Liebergot and/or Jim Lovell.
See the amount they're selling for on RR?
Now look at this.
That's the original source of the items. They essentially rep Gene for sales of unpersonalized signed photos. (Personalized are available free TTM, as Gene's a great signer, but between the arthritis and the flippers, he's limited the unpaid/unpersonalized stuff.)
You'll notice that most of the items you just saw on RR are still available through Steve & Farthest Reaches. I'm not sure how often he refreshes his stock, but, as I mentioned, he works directly with Gene & Sy to sell on their behalf.
I don't know who's buying that material from RR, but I do know that they don't know the market for the stuff they're buying. And I have no reason to believe that the buyers on the music side are any more educated.
I'd look at dealer & collector pricing before looking to RR for pricing guidance.
