Hi all,
I'm new to this and just got approved as a member.
I have this paperback book "Profiles in Courage" that was given to me by my grandmother years ago.She met John Kennedy back in 1960 or so when he was campaigning for president. I was very young when she met him and I remember how proud she was to talk briefly with him and get him to sign the flap of the book.I've never had it authenticated because where she was my grandmother,of course I know she DID meet him personally.I was wondering if anyone out there could confirm its authenticity by viewing the signature and I am willing to sell the book for the right price. The book, where it is a paperback,is in fair condition but the signature is excellent.I would entertain any comments anyone would have...Thanks, Dave

How much are you asking

Hi Jefferson.
Its ironic that you answer to my post where I've read some of your posts in some of the forums. You are very knowledgeable about your replies and seem have quite a passion for your interests.
Would a price range of $3000-$4000 seem too high? The book has been in my posession for a long time and where next year would be his 100th birthday, would you think the price is too high? If so what would be a good price? I see on e-bay that his autograph is very pricey.

David,

Thank you for your kind words, I would have to agree with James, I have purchased and sold paperbacks in the range from $800 to $1600. Hardback I have sold one recently for $3000. David if your Grandmother had that signed in person, it's a story for your Children and Grandchildren someday. I would keep it. Think of it as two moments in someone life that they connected for a minute. You have a moment of their life in your hands.

Thanks Jefferson,
I was thinking maybe it was worth a small fortune but I guess I'll plan on going to work this week:-)

Money is great, and some day Kennedy will skyrocket. For now hold on to something bigger.

It is authentic, but your price range is indeed too high. For a hardback in very good to excellent condition with a nice inscription, you might be able to get $3000-$4000.

But for this softcover, in somewhat rough condition (although softcovers tend to get that way), I'd say more like $1500 to $2000. You might get lucky and get more because I have seen people spend as much as $2500 to $3000 for a simple cut, although that is unusual. Kennedy price ranges seem to fluctuate a lot.
Thank you James,
As I've stated,I'm new to this and I think I'll be able to move forward with the price range you gave. I'll start at $2000 and work from there?
