JSA, PSA tamper-proof stickers

Why do these stickers always looked raised on an edge in the pictures I see?  Like you could peel it right off.  Aren't they tamper-proof?

The stickers (which I hate - free advertising and defacement - I've never used an authentication company and never buy or sell anything with a sticker) are somewhat stiff and flat ovals - the ball is round.

I hate these and baseballs and basketballs.  They are way too easily removed by the bad guys and replaced onto other items.

I have heard of them falling off - some suggest a hair dryer. I've never owned a stickered item. I enjoy doing the authentication myself. It is the hobby IMO - otherwise I'd be buying a list of and there would be no fun, research or learning.

Correction - I found a JSA sticker on the back of my 1987 Whales of August Lillian Gish and promptly removed it deftly with a blade. Here it is:
