Hi everyone...I just joined this site today and I would like to say hello. I am not new to autograph collecting but I am also not an expert. I suppose I will ask my first question for you guys and get the ball rolling: I am a collector of bank checks as I feel they are unique and offer me the best chances of obtaining a legit signature. Are there any persons that are known to have cancelled bank checks that are NOT signed by themselves....ie secretaries, friends, etc? Thank you for your help........

I think secretarial signatures would be authorized so they would not have to look like the celebrity at least unlikely.  I think bank checks are a fairly safe way though there are some down sides.  Often the ink used in the 1960s on bleeds and sometimes they are less than attractive.  The plus side is a person would have to go to a lot of trouble to make a fake check that would look good.   The only caveat might be I suppose some might use a stamped signature though i have never seen one.   It would be nice to have a group on here that collects checks to share information.

Hi Joseph.  Bank checks are a very safe way to collect authentic signatures.  They are essentially legal documents and forging them can get a person into a lot of trouble.  The only problem with them is that the bank sometimes stamps a "PAID" stamp on part of the signature.  This doesn’t bother me as much as it does some people.  I have a James Fenimore Cooper check with the “PAID” stamp touching part of the signature.  It is less likely that this problem will exist if the check is endorsed by the person whose signature you are purchasing.  I have a Francis Ford Coppola endorsed check that I am very happy with.  The best thing about them is that they are very likely to be authentic.
