Looking for opinions on this Laurel and Hardy album page dated 1940.  It's from the same collection as the Buster Keaton I posted a week or so ago.

Both good, IMHO...but would appreciate thoughts!

Etienne, A nice one…IMHO…..Did you mat that with a photo??

Thanks, David.  No, I don't own either one.  It's Christmastime..... I've just been window shopping!

Etienne, I only have an 8x10 duel signed….If I were still buying I would concentrate on Stan and learn his inscriptions down cold and then worry about the Hardy……Both of your op signatures were inked at the same time…..beautiful…. Be observant to Hardy signatures that IMHO were added by forgers…..Stan loved his fans and signed thru the mail in abundance.

Thanks, David.  Sound Advice.

The dealer Paul Fraser in England in one of his newsletters before the holidays sent out a notice that he was offering a Laurel and Hardy signed photo.  I didn't buy the photo but I did keep his email.  This is what he wrote:

"Sadly, most of the examples that cross my desk just leave me frowning.
Because almost all of them are phoniesFakesForgeries.
The market is filled with them. It has been for decades.
Finding a genuine Laurel and Hardy signed photograph these days is a tricky business.
If you don't buy one from a source you trust...
It could be a fine mess you've gotten yourself into.
That's why I haven't sold one in years: until now, I couldn't find one I was 100% certain about."

Nice piece, very much authentic! Pretty crazy to think that up till 1965 Stan lived in a modest condo and was listed in the phone book. People called him up all the time and sent autographs to him. What huge celebrity would do that now?

the laurel and hardy is real ''was it paul who did the writing about oliver?'' you can just see the date of signing that probably is done by stan. there is no doubt about authenticity but DAVID TOMLINSON could give his opinion. just google - david tomlinson laurel and hardy- you will find how to contact him.

Thanks, NIck and Rob!
