I will say it's not authentic. I have never seen a Jimmy Page autograph like this. Even when he signes sloppy, it's not like this. And Robert Plant is a copy of his later autographs, not one he would have signed when he was with Led Zeppelin.
This is just my opinion. But I would ask for a refund.
OK...you guys say it is fake....ARA provided certificate from E.C. Bryan, CFDE stating it's authenticity.
Who could I send it to that could prove once and for all it is fake..or real.
I'll need proof if I am to get a refund from ARA.
if only it were that easy dude.
the company went belly up. revenge somehow would be your only....well revenge
as def leppard once said unfortunately 'you're headed for a heartbreak'
ARA has filed an "Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors" (a Florida bankruptcy of sorts) apparently with the intention of wiping out potential claims of all the annoying customers like you who bought fake memorabilia from them and didn't know it. Jerry Gladstone formed a company to buy the assets from ARA though the dissolution (first hidden and then disclosed when a victim's counsel pointed it out), and he's already operating a new business in some of their locations under the name of Pop Culture Vault—even though the court hasn't approved the sale as far as I know.
The judge seems to know little about this kind of filing, and they didn't inform the court or their customers of all the potential liability out there from the millions in forgeries they've sold. The statutory time to file a claim is past, but I think you should inform the trustee in the case and the judge to let him know that you had no idea you bought fakes from them and no one notified you. The judge needs to understand that virtually all the signed memorabilia ARA sold is fraudulent. All but certain private signings.
Probably Tens of Millions of Dollars in fake memorabilia has been sold by ARA, and the way it stands now, less than a dozen people know what's going on and have a possibility of getting settlements.
Odds are not good, but you should try. Contact me for help.
You also probably should contact the NY office of the FBI, which is reportedly investigating ARA, Jerry Gladstone and his associates. E'Lyn Bryan authenticated a lot of ARA forgeries, as did Christopher Morales.
Mike Aring: You mentioned a few days ago that you obtained Robert Plant's signature in person as recent as last week. It is my understanding that he has been quite elusive on this current leg of the Band of Joy tour and has been bombarded so much over the last 12 months that he is only signing the new release if/when he does sign. Yes, his habits change like his knickers, but is it possible for you to post the signature you obtained yourself directly from Mr. Plant? We would all enjoy seeing it I'm sure.
Just got Robert Plant the other day. He said no to the guy with Zep albums. He signed my RAISING SAND CD, and also two solo albums for another writer at Autograph.
The album looks fake, and AMA sold mostly fakes. Sorry about that. Worst part is -- it's framed so nice, yet...what can you do with it? You have it on the wall, you have to lie to your friends. It's such a horrible feeling. Trust me, I know.
This item is definitely fake.
Don't know how you guys feel about this theory, but it seems like the framed items, unless it's something really vintage, always end up being fake. Everything I've ever seen that is framed on ebay is fake. And they're always really ornate, super nice looking framing. To me that always seems like a smoke screen. Like that place in Vegas where every single item is in an UNBELIEVABLE presentation frame, but all crap fake signatures.
And not to ruffle any feathers, but those two examples of real Zep autographs. What are the chances of 3 different colored pens to sign with in 73? And two different broad felt tips in '70?? Sorry, but those are suspect factors.
Just some 'observational' comments and questions. Plus it's tough not to be crazy suspicious of any signed Zep albums.
Anyone?
