Thank you all. Been a busy week with Little League Baseball (I umpire here in the Riverside valley).....
I am going to keep these albums because I am working on an idea of redoing my website to seperate all the autographs that I recieved myself from those I didn't. When I first started collecting 1985/1986ish, I had never a clue of what this industry was, nor what my collection would become (nor, that I could ever meet up with so many celebs that I admire). That said, and being single, I had more time and $$ than I do these days so I started purchasing autographs from what I believed to be established dealers and from many auction houses. I spent over 20G's on my Zepp albums, my Beatles completes and what now amounts to about 10% of my collection.
Eventually, I learned the tricks, gained the knowledge and said BS to paying for this stuff, as I can get autographs signed myself, meet the artists, and ride the wildest thrill of my life by collecting in person. Then came the internet and this thing called "websites". As soon as I could afford to build one, I did, all the while collecting in person. The only autographs I have purchased in the last 20 years, are from book store signings where they ship, and from a personal celebs website, and the like.
Fast foreward Josh to today, my next idea that I am building is a redesigned website showing 1000% REAL in person autographs vs. purchased autographs vs. bogus horse crud, and let the viewer draw from my collection, in any way they wish all the while preserving and veiwing my collection. I feel for me to tell the story of the last 25/30 years of I as a collector, I need all the parts(especially these ZEPP albums).
-------------Any Feedback offered, please throw it my way. I welcome all your thoughts.
Okay, now I'm confused as hell.
I like your idea, Stephen, if you DO NOT remember who you purchased from?
If you do (this case, Rick Barrett), you can STILL do the website the way you planned, and JUST save the photos. And, get the money back you paid -- and you still accomplish the same thing, BUT you have the thousands back you spent on the 3 zep albums.
Here's the thing. Rick handled this horribly. He didn't tell customers (ie ME) how he acquired the albums (but I didn't purchase because of it). People like you, that know have the luxury of posting online, and letting people see this (ie ROGER E), you can now get your money back. DO IT. DO IT NOW!!!!
If you let many more years go by, who knows. He might pass away, anything. The sooner you do it, the better.
It would be a shame for you to have something like this in your collection.
Hello everyone, new member here. Thank you all in advance for you comments and any help you might be able to give me.
I am a regular visitor to this website and a huge classic rock, Beatles and Led Zep fan, and especially enjoy reading expert opinions by the people here, including Mr Cyrkin and Mr Epperson, whose opinions on authenticity I value.
I was googling for Rick Barrett and got to this recent discussion.
I just bid on an Ebay auction from Germany for a Led Zep 2 LP signed by all four in London, from 1980 apparently, with a Certificate from Rick Barrett (pics below).
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180687993418...
And another one by the same seller (not sure why he listed it twice, but I bid on both just to be on the safe side)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180688053811...
Listing details:
"Led Zeppelin II lp, in excellent condition, with autographs of the 4 original members of Led Zeppelin. The Lp was signed during rehearsals by led Zeppelin at the Rainbow Theatre in London in the spring of 1980 during rehearsals for the 1980 tour "Over Europe". The item had been authenticated by Led Zeppelin memorabilia expert Rick Barrett and comes with his original signed letter of authentication. Also comes with the original signed letter from the person who personally obtained the autographs." (end)

I haven't paid for the item yet, since I just bid. My antennae kicked in though, since the autos were in marker (not pen, as I believe should usually be the case from that time), and I wanted to do a little more online research on Mr. Rick Barrett and his certificates before paying for the item.
I also upload pics of the LP and certificate above. There is no photograph or other identifying feature connecting the LP to the COA that is mentioned in the Certificate itself, by the way, unlike PSA or JSA holograms and serial numbers, etc.
Any views on the authenticity of the signatures would be most appreciated.
Thank you all once again.
Thank you, Mr Cyrkin.
I will inform Ebay about this listing, as I have with a couple other fraudulent sellers from Manchester UK, etc. in the past.
the last all 4 on an album i saw just for over 15k i think around 18k
That sounds right for a nice period-signed album.
