Not sure if I posted this a while back or not, but it bears repeating. I was looking over the stock of some sort of king of signatures...noticed this among the rubble:

That "Shatner" is as good as the "Bowie"...I call this little set "the stars are out tonight". And they are. Broadcasting FORGERY all over the place. It's like a reverse beacon - shining a light on what NOT to buy. 

I just spotted this and I remember you mentioning these.  Apart from Ringo Star another actor that consistently used a "star" in his autograph was Andrew Prine.  While not a household name if you were alive in the 1960s-70s his face is instantly recognizable usually as a villain of sorts. He used a fairly big star to dot the "i" of his name.  His vintage material has this but later he began using a dash.   The earlier material is uncommon.
