These signed calendar pages are part of a larger collection of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia I have obtained. What do you think of the signatures?

Having trouble uploading a photo, I have provided a link to the item.

Whoever signed this, however long ago, put some study in. But Marilyn's hand writing, for all the messiness, is ironically quite uniform.

The slowness and crookedness in forming the letters shows it for what it is, in the Emmeline dedication. Yet the angles were ok. However, everything has to be right in the one signing. The "Marilyn" itself is a mess too.

The other signing is signed quite quickly and it imitated some aspects in an overall way, but because it is both parts of her name the baseline shows it to be not MM. The loops are wrong too. By 1954 her loops were starting to look like daggers.

Strange both these signings are on the same calendar. I suppose they must be the same hand therefore. I would think the reason for the difference is simply that the dedication being longer had to be signed slower. Whereas the forger was quite practiced on just writing "Marilyn Monroe".

Thank you for detailing all of that, Pauline. I always enjoy your posts.  I saw about 2/3 of what you've wrote from what you've said in the past, the RR study, looking, and also looking upside down, backward and flipped sideways alongside the exemplars posted here and some others. A few more years...

Thank you Pauline, as always your insight is invaluable! We decided not to add these to our collection. You certainly saved us a lot of money on this one. Thank you to Eric as well for the references! Hopefully we can continue to keep forgeries like these off the market
