On April 8, 1978, as Marlon Brando and his female traveling companion were driving along I-95 in southern Nevada in their motor home, his vehicle broke down. The motor home was towed to Beatty, NV for repairs. requiring Mr. Brando to stay the night at a local motel.

He went into the Exchange Club, the small casino/cafe in town, for a meal. At the time I was living and working at Fran's Ranch, some 3 miles north of Beatty. A casino employee recognized Mr. Brando and called my employer to tell her about the famous visitor. Fran and I drove into town, went into the Exchange Club and immediately spotted Mr. Brando. I wanted to ask for an autograph, but had no paper. We found a shopping bag at a nearby souvineer counter, ripped off a piece of it and approached Mr Brando. He was very kind to us and autographed the paper. Fran actually dated the autograph, not Mr. Brando.
As this autograph is only on a grocery sack and isn't in pristine condition, would it carry any value at all?

Shame he had a female traveling companion, Julia, or you might have been able to get a stack of photos signed. Your Brando autograph is worth about $200-$275, and the story adds a lot of charm to it and made me smile.

A member here was looking for one a while back and I can connect you two if you want to sell it. Just let me know.

Steve, thank you so much for your kind reply.  It was, indeed, unfortunate that Mr. Brando wasn't traveling solo that day in '78!  Ah, such is life...  The upside is that I have a treasured memory that will last a lifetime.  And, of course, there's the bragging rights. I would love to see this autograph go to someone who truly appreciates what it represents, so yes, I would be very grateful if you could connect me with the member that you mentioned. Thanks, again, and Happy Holidays!

You got it, Julia. I'll let him know. Thanks, and Happy Holidays to you, too!

Julia,

I just sent you a friend request.  I am interested in the Brando autograph if you are interested in selling it.

Welcome to the site!

Brandon,

You are welcome to weigh in on this Brando Pic as well!

Bob

Steve,

I had posted a signed Brando picture last august and it is extremely close to the one on the paper.

I don't think you commented on it then. Could you put a suggested value on it.

It is very close to the one on this post.

Brando was so inconsistent when he did sign, I haven't seen one close until now.

Thank you

Bob

Bob,

I think you need expert opinions on the authenticity of this signed Brando photo. I'm sorry to say I'm concerned about it. It doesn't look like any variations of Brando's signature I know, and the photo doesn't look aged enough to be half a century old.

What's the story on it?

I believe it was used as a publicity photo for an airing on KTLA Feb. 24, 1984. I am posting the press release that was with the picture which had been mounted and framed by the former owner.

There is quite a bit of silvering in outlines of the darker parts of the picture. The marker in the sig. does appear aged. The example that you commented on in one of the post looks extemely close to this one. I would love to send it to you to have you take a closer look.

Bob,

I just run this joint—I'm not a Brando authority! Since you're interested in selling it, why don't you send a full image to RRAuction.com? If they like it, I think it could bring $1,000-$1,500 or more. You'll get 80-85% of the hammer price (the price before buyer's premium).

There are a lot of good auction houses for Brando, but RR has a sale every month and generally gets good prices. I can give you more suggestions, but to sell it on eBay you'll need to send it to PSA/DNA or JSA to get good money, and I'd hate to see you waste $50-$100 if they don't think it's good.

it looks messy, but good to me.

Steve,
This is a message I got from Josh last year on it, but I had conflicting answers then as well.
I don't know that I want to sell the Brando, but I would sure like to know if it is real.
Thanks as always,
Bob

Hi Brandon,

Thank you for the nice welcome and for your interest in my Brando autograph! I am, indeed, interested in selling it. I've treasured it for many, many years but it't time to find it a good home. I sent a message to you earlier this week with contact information but, as I'm new here, perhaps I sent it incorrectly? Please let me know? Thanks, again.

Julia

Hi Brandon,

I sent you another message!

Julia
