On April 8, 1978, as Marlon Brando and his female traveling companion were driving along I-95 in southern Nevada in their motor home, his vehicle broke down. The motor home was towed to Beatty, NV for repairs. requiring Mr. Brando to stay the night at a local motel.

He went into the Exchange Club, the small casino/cafe in town, for a meal. At the time I was living and working at Fran's Ranch, some 3 miles north of Beatty. A casino employee recognized Mr. Brando and called my employer to tell her about the famous visitor. Fran and I drove into town, went into the Exchange Club and immediately spotted Mr. Brando. I wanted to ask for an autograph, but had no paper. We found a shopping bag at a nearby souvineer counter, ripped off a piece of it and approached Mr Brando. He was very kind to us and autographed the paper. Fran actually dated the autograph, not Mr. Brando.
As this autograph is only on a grocery sack and isn't in pristine condition, would it carry any value at all?

People wonder why some of us collect autographs. This story is a perfect example of why, because this is a piece of Marlon Brando's life. And it's reasonable to put a price on an item like this, even if it is priceless.

Travis, are you talking about the Brando autograph on the paper bag? Bob asked me about his signed photo. I think Julia sold the one on the paper bag for roughly $200. Nice autograph...and great story.

Oh yes. Absolutely I was talking about the paper bag. I just thought it was a great moment in time. I also don't like the autograph on the Brando photo.

What I love the most about Julia's Brando story is where she worked.

Is this Brando genuine?

I don't care for it, but others might have different opinions.

'78 was definately a memorable year for me at Fran's!  ; )  BTW...the person who was going to buy my Brando autograph disappeared, so I still have it in case anyone is interested!

Hi Julia,

I'm sorry...I thought you sold it! List your Brando in this group and I'll vouch for it's authenticity. I can vouch for yours because it's a typical Brando autograph:

No worries, Steve. I thought I had sold it too! Thank you so much for the link AND for vouching for my little bit of history. I'll post the autograph asap.
