Hello Robert, welcome to the thread and thank you for your very kind comments...wascher deserves all the credit on the autograph front, and I have learnt a lot from her :)

I'm sorry to hear that you sold your MJ autograph...but it's a nice story about the visit to Hasbro.  I can imagine MJ investing in them...a great toy company.  (I love watching 'Toy hunter' on TV, and learning about all the great vintage toys that are now collectables...makes me feel very old!)

Hello John!

 I consigned it back in 2009. Since then I have gone through several computers. Its most likely saved on one of them, but I just don't have access right now. If I get a chance I will try to unearth it. 

I consigned it to RR Auctions in NOV. 2009, Catalog 351-item 715. If you go to past auctions-you will see it listed their. Sadly there is no picture-I guess RR removes the images after a period of time. The listing mentions the Hasbro visit and a newspaper clipping showing MJ inside Hasbro.

Another offering from Maria_butterfly0152 of Germany.  This is in red felt tip pen on glossy white card, and has an LOA from Epic Records!  Asking price is 1349 Euros BIN. 

It is very similar to red drawing that sold at Julien's in 2012. (on side-perforated paper, photo attached)

 (We previously saw three signed drawings of a head from this source, two on paper, one on brown card.  The previous one on paper had a 'Vaccaro' LOA).

  I believe it was noted that the visit was in 1993 by the girl who obtained it. Thinking about it know-I should have kept it. I wont be comeing across another one locally and I wont be purchasing any of his art work. Im very schooled in art-been drawing and painting all my life.  I was in art programs in High school and some college. There was alot of intetresting comments about MJ's art from people who think they are art experts. I'm not an art expert-I'm just a struggling artist on the side who can draw and paint. How can an Autograph appraiser say all these sketches that are all over the place in style and talent level be authentic? To be honest-even a talented artist on his worst day is gonna be better than most that don't draw and paint. The other thing is when ever I drew something I didnt like or thought was crap-I didnt even want to sign it. Many times I would just throw it away. You know-like the writer with the wastepaper basket. A artist who has a level of talent knows when the quality of his work is dropping or not up to what they want. An artist might look amature when he tries going from say pencil to painting watercolors or even oil to watercolor. When you are sketching with Pencil, colored pencil, Charcoal your style will be close-have similarities...JUST LIKE YOUR AUTOGRAPH.  You don't forget how to shade, blend color and direct the art tool -it comes from your talented trained brain and Jackson had one of those. These are just my opinions. Ok enough of this-I guess its all old news now anyway.

Oh yes! lots of fun with all the computers. Too many family members using them, outdated and so on. The computers in my house are used for personal, business, College and the jackass who drops by and messes it up.

You are so right about Michael's art.  He had been drawing and painting since he was a child, and at one point said (in response to a question) that if he had not been a singer he would have  liked to have been an artist.  He had an assured 'artistic hand' (as is demonstrated in his artistic autograph which was signed 'with a flourish'), and he apparently sketched quickly.  If you know what you are drawing, the brain / action co-ordination is different from when you are copying another's work, and constantly re-checking to see if it looks right.  And you are absolutely right about the 'quality control'...Michael was the archetypal perfectionist as regards anything that 'represented' him and his work.  Sadly these poor copies are only 'devaluing' the impression of Michael's art work in the public mind.  Even his doodles had more about them than these sad offerings.

Hi Robert, I'm afraid I cannot find another photo at the moment, but I did find a couple of captions to this photo of the visit (the one labelled Michael at Hasbro, above)

'Michael meanwhile astounded just about everyone with his impromptu visit on April 14, when he arrived quietly at corporate headquarters 'to see how toys are made'. Some lucky employee however recovered enough from the 'off the wall' occurrence to find themselves with (an) autograph from the world-renowned popstar'.

and:

'Hasbro Toy facility, Powtucket, Rhode Island. He checks out the production line and fun room where the toys are tested as well as visits children and signs autographs for them.'

(so it's almost an anniversary of that visit)

Bingo Robert on the art comments :)  One of the things that I find interesting about Ericks artwork is.... it is flat (you will understand what I mean by that).  If you haven't read that thread (its linked in this one towards the beginning) check it.   Erick has even learned how to use depth using a dot on paper (remember one of your first art classes how you draw a dot on paper and you make the lines go to that dot, to show depth in buildings, boxes, etc?  A point of infinity)  However he doesn't know what he's doing with that dot.  Here is a few examples of what I mean (this one has never been shown, but its another one Joe bought from Erick).  Its a picture of Michaels childhood home.  The shingles make me want to scream. 

And another where the depth is all wrong and the lines do not make sense. 

The sad part of this is, that people who don't know anything about MJ's art or even art in general, buy it.  They want a piece of MJ and its exciting, especially if MJ is their lifelong idol....  Its unfort. that people like Erick and our other "artists"  being shown in this thread, can cash in on that.
