First I would like to say I am not very up on MJ autographs. But a big red flag to me is when you see a COA signed by the artist. I dont trust it at all.

Hi thanks for your reply but was told by seller that as the letter says it was a gift from michael to someone who worked for him so the letter is not a COE is it .thanks anyway Brian

What? Its totally being used as a COA. I have no idea what a COE but a COA is a Certificate of authenticity.

Now if I am wrong so be it, but the problem I have is did MJ walk around with COA's in 1998 for employees? A bit strange that he needs to prove the hat he is giving to the person is real isn't it? If a celebrity handed me a hat I wouldnt then say "hey got a COA and can you sign it?" after he signed the hat already.

But maybe a MJ collector can tell us different. I just have a hard time imagining MJ having to sign COAS for a hat he gave to someone he works with.

Hi Brian,

I got your email asking for my opinion on the hat and I'm glad you came to this site for help. The letter is clearly fake. It's a rough copy of his logo and not his stationery. It's not even the right color, plus the same ink is used for the text in the letter. Whoever wrote it has no concept of English grammar, capitalization and punctuation. And the signature is not authentic in my opinion. 

I don't see a photo of the autograph on the hat, but that doesn't matter. If the letter is fake the signed hat must be considered fake...even if it looks like it might be good.

I agree with Steve on the letterhead.  It not centered on the paper either (the logo or address).  And that is ALWAYS centered. 

What I'm curious about is where are you getting these items/letters, because you sent a shirt photo in here asking if it was real, and showed us a very similar letter here  - that one on red paper with the same misspellings etc through-out the letter.

Thanks so much for everyone's help I really do mean that. I wish I had joined this Site and better educatied myself a bit sooner. The items are from a seller in oporto Portugal. And with the letters with items did think I was getting the real thing.  Really pleased I posted this on forum  before buying the hat thanks again to everyone who has posted a message. To this
