Hi! I bought a funko for the Michael Keaton signing from Crlberty Authentics. Long story short the coa number isn’t on their database. I reached out and they said there updating it and it wouldn’t be until everything is shipped. I know they don’t have the greatest reputation and I probably shouldn’t have spent any money. Just want to know if they are legit and if the Signiture looks okay? Please tell me I’m worrying to much.

You can run the name Celebrity Authentics through the Search Engine here. You did not mention just how long you are waiting which would seem to be part of the discussion.

I got this funko about a month ago. Still waiting on some other items. They keep telling me it will be a few weeks. Did you post a link I don’t see anything.

No, I did not, I posted a suggestion.

I misunderstood you. Thanks!

No problem. It is a good habit to get into. Search here and Google as well - always.

I can't tell comfortably if this is legit or not, because it's super-sloppy. I think it probably is real, but if so, he couldn't even put 2 humps in the M as he usually does. I would not accept autographs like that if I was holding a signing. I think you'll have a hard time getting market value if you ever tried to sell it.

Celebrity Authentics has or had a reputation among some very good experts for using Hamburger Helper: holding a legit signing but then selling some that respected experts think are not. I don't know their reputation for signings in the last several years though.

You should get opinions here that will help on your piece. Or get an online opinion from one of the respected TPAs.

Any suggestions?

There is ACOA, PSA, BAS, JSA. Others will have opinions on which are better for Entertainment.

I think that BAS and ACOA are the best for modern entertainment right now.

Is Swau or Beckett quick opinions reliable?

If there signing is legit how can they send out items that may not be? That doesn’t make any sense.

Some signatures are genuine but not "authenticatable" due to being overtly simplistic (or simplified), shortened, rushed, sloppy, unusual etc. Those will often sell for less - if you can sell them at all. A good clean signature that is typical is most desired, and one needs to know what those will look like before buying, or how would one know. what to collect. Research is your ally - knowledge your defense.
