Alleged to be donated by Mick.  Does this look solid?

This is way way off unfortunately

Thanks Tim.  I thought it odd that Juliens suggested a donation but without reference to who would receive the proceeds.

I received my Juliens catalog in the mail yesterday.  The catalog goes to great lengths to suggest that many of the items are donated to Prince’s Trust (a trust devoted to helping struggling 11-30 year olds....).  100% of the hammer price will go to this trust (with Juliens no doubt not equally benevolent with their buyers premiums).  This piece is very clearly identified as a donation from Mick.

It seems odd that this is not an authentic Mick signature, given the circumstances.  Is it secretarial signed?

The description leads me to believe that it was signed specifically for this auction.

I'm not as good on Mick Jagger as other members, but I think he signed it. I'm pretty confident that he did.

I know, it looks off, but the writing is several times the size of his normal autograph.

Regular writing uses the fingers and wrist. Writing this large uses the whole arm.

Here's a Jagger 5 page handwritten letter sold by Record Mecca about 10 years ago. I think you'll see a lot of similarities. LMK your thoughts.

That is why I resurrected this discussion, Steve.  While I am not in any position to validate the signature, everything about the circumstances suggests it is legit.  Otherwise, to Tim’s point, this is an absurd assertion by Juliens.

If legit, I am very interested.

Secretarial is a real concern on donated autographs, Daniel, so you're smart to make sure Jagger really signed it.

I feel strongly it's the real deal, but please don't rely on me. See if more members comment and ask Epperson if you want to be extra sure.

It would be a fantastic piece to own.

What makes this look off is that the Jagger autograph we usually see looks so different. You wouldn't know who signed it unless you knew his autograph. "Mick" on the jacket is how he writes Mick when he wants to make sure the reader can tell who it is. You rarely see that on things signed for fans.

You're right, Tim, the letter is from 1981 is more than 35 years old. But the signatures are very similar.

I won't speculate on the authenticity, because I know I suck, but it strikes me in a deep, profound manner when I imagine Jagger saying "Best wishes" to someone. That's pretty dejecting. I want to take a nap now and dream of cocaine and headless bats.
