We now have a Musician-Direct Autograph Sales Forum where you can post individual discussions of new offerings. It's a big change—and a big improvement. We closed this discussion after 8 years but it will always be available to read.

The new system has been in place for 2 months now and it's working well.

This video shows you how easy the new forum is to use.

You can follow the forum and be notified of new signings exclusively! And you can enter a musician's name in the forum's search box and find any discussions about them.

Be sure to click the Follow link at the bottom of the list of discussions.

Try it...I think you'll like it.

Though I recall a member posting a blog asking about this a while ago, I could not relocate it for my purpose in this discussion.

It can be nice when one stumbles upon a musician's shop (via their website), to see that they are selling their autographs. I figured this could grow as a wee database for listing those musicians who partake in this.

I recently recieved a couple press photos signed in ballpoint from John Mayall's website (http://www.johnmayall.com/merch.html). I am also aware that you can purchase signed CDs from Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits(http://peternoone.com/store/). John 5 ( formerly Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie guitarist) sells various items signed, with an option to dedicate.

So, does anyone else know of this being done by other musicians?

your sarcasm game is weak...

Just woke up and started reading all this. None of this is worth getting this excited over guys. I can see where Rich is coming from after looking at a lot more comparisons. In the years I've bought from Newbury, I've never seen or heard of them.having any that were signed by other people..autopen yes, but not this. It would be very disappointing if this is the case.  Either way.. we have this thread to help each other out..let's not make it personal.. there's enough negative stuff on the facebook forums.

I agree Newbury is a good company, and I will continue to buy off them. When there's a problem, which is rare, they address it. But they're at the mercy of what's provided to them by the artist's management team. I doubt anyone on Newbury's staff got these and thought there was a problem. You usually have to stand back to see the issues, especially when info might be limited.

In this case, we're talking about two sit down signings - one public and one private - just a few weeks apart that resulted in two drastically different looking types of signatures. The preorder signings likely involved a somewhat higher volume, so the fact that those are slower and more deliberate makes very little sense. So, yes, we have a problem. I'd love to have more information about this, but the evidence does not point to anything hopeful here.

you are clearly worried or you all wouldn't be posting all the differences that are meaningless because they all slightly vary based off THEM actually signing them as HUMANS! You or anybody else would sign the exact same way if you were signing that many..just fact...

Lol you still don’t get the point! This argument isn’t worth my time anymore. Have a good day!

You need to cool off. If you want it to be real, that's fine. But you've been completely dismissive of a valid concern while offering advise that is dangerous to the novice collector. If you assume everything is real until proven otherwise, the majority of your collection will absolutely be garbage.

Nothing about this topic is about negativity. It's about determining what's authentic, what's not and when there are valid concerns.

+1

like I said..pay a company to authenticate it instead of complaining about it or scrutinizing it because nobody here is a legit authenticator here. everybody here is guessing if they are legit or not and making everybody second guess what they have bought..that is not cool..like I said..there is no solid proof anybody is bringing to the table here..unless you pay to get them officially authenticated, anything anybody says here is hearsay without that solid proof..This is why those companies exist. To stop people from assuming they know what is legit or not and of course to prove the fakes from the real graphs...

Excuse me, buy why would I pay a company who has to answer to shareholders (I am first?) to do the enjoyable and educational work of my own chosen hobby? As we saw (again) yesterday by Eagle Eyes Ballroom the TPG databases are corrupt - as I have also shown in my threads here. Those papers and stickers are generally worthless - I truly pity those who rely on them solely. Over-reliance, false security and those darn stickers and partly to blame for all this. BTW, I do authenticate, more than autographs on more than one continent, so don't assume too much.

so you are basically saying the likes of autographcoa is not legit? RACC is not legit? but your assumption is over them?! uh..ok...smdh

Assumption?

I say no organization one way or another - I look at each signature based on its merits.

No, I did not say any of that - you did. I am saying/asking what is the self educated, knowledgeable, & experienced (or getting there) collectors opinion of a signature, if one has one? I think some collectors have some homework to do. Questions posted here perhaps daily demonstrate this.

I enjoy the work of the hobby - the part buying an opinion or sticker can readily remove. 50% of the Gleason's or more at the PSA Facts page are secretarial by Sydell Spear - why would I place trust in them?

You assume every company has a board that authenticates signatures?!? Thats laughable and proves you dont know what u are talkingi about...they do it for a living.. do you? I am going to trust a legit company with a proven track record over some random guy in a forum any day of the week,. That’s common sense...plus those stickers and sealing a comin book in a plastic sealed container for example, are legit.. nobody is removing those stickers showing a registered unique number.. that would be stupid
