We now have a Musician-Direct Autograph Sales Forum where you can post individual discussions of new offerings. It's a big change—and a big improvement. We closed this discussion after 8 years but it will always be available to read.

The new system has been in place for 2 months now and it's working well.

This video shows you how easy the new forum is to use.

You can follow the forum and be notified of new signings exclusively! And you can enter a musician's name in the forum's search box and find any discussions about them.

Be sure to click the Follow link at the bottom of the list of discussions.

Try it...I think you'll like it.

Though I recall a member posting a blog asking about this a while ago, I could not relocate it for my purpose in this discussion.

It can be nice when one stumbles upon a musician's shop (via their website), to see that they are selling their autographs. I figured this could grow as a wee database for listing those musicians who partake in this.

I recently recieved a couple press photos signed in ballpoint from John Mayall's website (http://www.johnmayall.com/merch.html). I am also aware that you can purchase signed CDs from Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits(http://peternoone.com/store/). John 5 ( formerly Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie guitarist) sells various items signed, with an option to dedicate.

So, does anyone else know of this being done by other musicians?

I deleted that comment, and was never asked to elaborate, but I will rephrase. "One of your admins is one of the few people responsible for Frank Oz no longer signing autographs." Is that better?  Do you still want to defend someone who says he doesn't care that hes no longer signing for other people because he got all that he needed from him?  If we're going to start quoting people lets start with that one.

Where we going with all this?  You trashed a guy without a good reason.  A guy who helped build one of the best FB groups and an honest reputable seller.  You THINK he was the cause....but you don't know.  You can't be 100% sure.  Last I knew Josh doesn't put his products on eBay so is it possible other collectors/dealers removed personalizations and posted them on eBay and Frank saw them and got mad?  Celebrities are entitled to get ornery.  Roger Waters got that way a while back and he's back to signing for everyone.  If the seller of your Hofner had hired workers to help him get one from Sir Paul because we all know Paul McCartney only does one each...are you going to send it back to him because he's ruining it for others?

I had plenty of good reason.. and I didn't "trash" him. Jeez. I mentioned a reference to him in one tiny sentence that I deleted and you pounced all over it and got all ban happy.

If you want to defend his actions and comments, that's fine.. I'm merely pointing out my case since you called me a liar.

I'm happy to take my money elsewhere, but from what I've seen, I think you should treat the few buyers you have in RACC with a little more dignity. We are after all the ones who pay your bills. And no, I will never buy autographs from someone if I know they are behaving in a way that disrespects the celebrity. That's why I like to set up private signings and work with others who do the same.

I don't see one instance where RACC was the cause of any harm and to my point, Weezer still is available.  I do see where I have posted as many or more links to presales than anyone else here completely due to members of RACC so hopefully you can see more clearly the give/take contributions and while they may not hold value to you because you get to see them in RACC, not everyone has Facebook or wants to receive those notifications there.  If you think you going to a private group to secretly share your information is fair I of course respect that.  It's your decision and right to do but you can't expect others to want the links posted here from RACC with that knowledge.  That's what I meant by both sides lose.

I don't recall ever seeing you ask that posts not be put on RACC right away, the only time I remember RACC being brought up was when someone WRONGLY blamed RACC for depleting the inventory of a presale so if that was you then I naturally assumed you saw you were wrong and I moved on.  Hours later the site corrected the glitch and had more for so it was a false statement.

I come from a place where collectors, dealers, hobbyists, and even Joe Schmoe from Idaho all have the same opportunities and get the same deserved respect.  I don't believe I deserve anything more or less than you and I try to help others because others have helped me.  I'll put my contributions (as a dealer) up against any collector out there when it comes to helping evolve this great hobby.  As for people worrying about getting kicked out, the group is NOT a place to throw empty false accusations at and damage's people's reputations and attack their integrity.  RACC is a place to unify collectors, dealers, and hobbyists where people can post and not have to worry about getting trashed on, especially without a legitimate cause.  Go check out some of the autograph forums if you don't understand the importance of maintaining an atmosphere of respect and how bad it can get.

Sorry for the lengthy reply but I respect what you've done to contribute both here and there and these comments I felt deserved my respect and attention.  Please PM me directly if you have any more concerns.  We've beat this dead horse pretty good I think.

Who has a link to the racc facebook.

Mikes,

I'm glad you both had the opportunity to share your perspectives and hear each other out regarding the removal from RACC.

Let's get back to members figuring out how we want to handle posting information on musician direct sales.

We have the private group set up, which again, is open to all members of Autograph Live. There's no reason that some members can't post in the members-only group if they want, and others can post in this one available to any visitor to the site.

Yes. Hoping down the road to buy Chris and Mike a beer and laugh about all this.

Here is the thread I initially set up regarding this topic back in January 2013: http://live.autographmagazine.com/forum/topics/celebrities-and-musi...

It has 13 pages of useful information, some of which is very much still relevant.

Its a bit naïve to think any of this stuff is going to remain private. Its every man for himself when you find an autographed item is being sold. I always order the item myself if I want it before I post. Raac or no Raac, these things sell out when in high demand. If there is an artist you really want keep googling them and check for news when they are releasing something because that's when they sell signed things. I also bought an "Oz" off of Josh from that 'signing". I live near him and sat and talked with him for an hour about graphs and the accusations on facebook that were erased but I had read them. Josh uses helpers but so do quite a few others,he is a seller/dealer. The last thing he would ever do is piss Mr. Oz off. He has always been friendly with Mr Oz like Michael says. The guy that started the thread on facebook I believe was from Florida and wasn't there, it was a lot of rumour. There is a lot of competition out there for autographs!

I agree Ian, that is very naive but isn't the point.  I think the point here is just simple which is that we are just trying to help out other collectors and give them a fair shot at landing some of these offers.

Intentional or not, that's what happened. Hiring helpers to try and get as many autographs as possible to sell when Mr. Oz specifically signs one per person and personalizes so they will not be sold is the big reason he stopped signing. So, intentional or not, Josh is responsible. Rather than own up and apologize, he told me that he doesn't care because he got everything he needed from him. And then he banned me, probably, RACC's best customer. If Michael (and others) want to glorify that behavior, so be it. I just don't think anyone can do that and say they care about collectors at the same time.

For the record, I never saw the accusations against him on facebook, I was out of the country at the time.
